Swapping the Speedo to 1 with Navi

Has anyone done this? I tried searching but really didnt find any results.

Is it an easy swap like plug and play or do they need to flash it to the main unit?

You van do it but the car will need to be coded for it. For the price that you are about yo spend to do this(upwards of $1600) you can just got get a small gps and save the rest of that money for other mods or a vacation like MOTD.

I agree.
I don't know why people pay upwards of $1,500 for a mediocre navigation system in a new car and then end up using their phone or $99 GPS.
Same goes for the "sports rims" you'd get from the factory when you can get light weight aftermarket rims for cheaper.

Not even close. That's what it costs as a factory option. Retrofitting would cost at least $4000 for parts alone, plus a huge amount of labor. You'd be better off trading the car for one that has it.

Yes it has been done, there are posts about it and at least one person has successfully completed the conversion. Basically an expensive nightmare with very little benefit.

For navigation, don't forget about the OEM Garmin retrofit mount that hard wires to the car. I had a couple of loaners with that, VERY excellent way to get navigation. Plus I personally don't like the look of the nav screen.

Yeah, I had the bug to want to do this, but after reading all the complaints about the built in navi, I've begun to appreciate my nice large speedo.

I like the comment I read a while ago about doing this - that it would be easier to buy a car with the nav screen already fitted and then replace the body around it to your car's........

I used to think like you, then I actually bought a car with the "mediocre navigation system". It's been fantastic in my 2013 and having it in addition to MINI Connected made the price well worth it. I will never again buy a car without a Media/Nav system in it.
