No jack kit for 2013?

BMW replaced our troubled 2012 cmsa4 with a 2013 that we picked up this morning. The 2012 came with a jack but the 2013 did not, and the dealer said this is correct. I guess it can be argued that there is little need for a jack if you do not have a spare, although we would prefer the flexibility as we ordered non run flat winter tires a few minutes ago.

Have everyone else's 2013's been delivered without the jack? Why the change? Cost cutting? Weight reduction?

even with no spare, the jack is quite handy

if you get a flat and put the sealer in, it can help to spin the tire to aid spreading it around the puncture

also when filling a flat, either with one of those small electric pumps or from a CO2 cartridge, it fills much faster if the weight of the car is off the tire

The 2012 came with a jack but the 2013 did not
Does it have runflats? That could be the reason.

Maybe you should check with another member or dealer who has a 2013 and see if they have one.

I never use the jack set that comes with a vehicle. They are flimsy. I have my own hydraulic jack since 1997. It's still going strong.

I'm hoping that other 2013 owners chime in here.

No jack with 2013, my MA confirmed the day I picked mine up, he wasn't aware until we tried to find it.

2013 CountymanS.... NO JACK in mine either. I am a new MINI owner, when they showed me the trunk area, I asked about a jack....the MA said "there is no need for a jack with run flat tires." I had no idea they were available on previous models.

Not only was the jack available last year, it was standard and so were run flats. Oh well, at least we like the new colors for the air conditioning vents and bezel around the speedometer, plus the now standard lumbar adjustment, and the revised window and mirror switchgear.

I took the jack kit OUT of my 2012 as soon as I got the car home from the dealer.

I am curious as to the issue you had with your 2012 cmsa4. My 2012 has been in and out for service due to cylinder issues and rough running. So far 5 times in less than 8 months

Electrical system problems that they could never resolve...different fuses blowing causing the engine to stop. The Service Manager said they thought it was a bad ground, and at one point we thought all was resolved. But then it started again. Not frequent, perhaps every couple of weeks or so, and I began to recognize the signals the engine was about to quit (sputtering, etc.) I finally had to resort to carrying spare fuses with me while we waited for the replacement car to arrive.

I never heard of anyone else on this forum or otherwise having the same or similar issue, and we had no other issues with the car other than a minor issue programming one of the the Sirius radio presets. So we figured it was extremely unlikely we would run into the same issue again. When they offered to replace the car with a 2013, we assumed that would further reduce the chances of problems under the theory that they have now had several years to work through the glitches of a new model. Time will tell if we made the right decision...

I am glad to hear they did stand behind the cms. The jury is still out on my issues, but we will see... Happy motoring

2014 JCWCM-- no jack, no tools, and no spare

I just received my 2014 CM--and no jack, no tools, and no spare. MA said it was due that I have run flats and I can drive to a safe location. If I did not have run flats, they would have provided the Mini Mobility System (small 12 volt pump and a can of slime). This is no surprise since my 2008 BMW M Coupe had no spare but did come with BMW Mobility System (pump and tire slime). Interesting thing is that the owners manual does not even show how to jack that car and has remove the torque statements for tightening the lugs. It simply says "Your service center will be glad to advise you". This is different from an slightly older 2013 version I found online dated 10/12.

At least they left the tow hook.

2013 CM here and no jack. It was hard to believe at first but apparently that's what that roadside number on the huge sticker on the windshield is for.
