Did I screw up the Oil Service Reminder while resetting?
I changed my oil yesterday and then went to reset the Oil Service reminder. This is not the first time that I have reset since I owned the car. I have done it before with no problems. Here is the problem: the next oil service is set for 2015! I am assuming that the 18000 mi means that I should change the oil when the vehicle reaches 18000 miles (makes no sense since I have 35000 on the car)?. Any ideas on what is going on?! Take a look at the photo.
No, the 18,000 miles is the interval to the next oil change. Same with the time, but in the U.S. MINI recommends no more than 1 year between oil changes.
Our MINI went in for the MINI maintenance oil change at the dealer and this is what the reset to next service looks like?
1000 miles or 10 of 2014 till the next oil service. Is this correct?
You need to drill down into the service menu to figure out which service the MINI thinks is due in only 1000 miles. If they reset it correctly, it should be something other than the oil.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing but why didn't the dealer do the other service? I thought they were supposed do any Mini sponsored service within 1000 miles of due mileage? The estimated time is 21 months off (perhaps the date is just for the oil)?

I recently had the same problem after dealership service; the date of next service was correct, but the mileage didn't look right. Took it back to the dealership, and they said my Clubman had a faulty brake sensor which prematurely indicates that brake pads need replacing; they said it is a known issue. They somehow "overrode" that sensor and now both my mileage and date of next service is displaying correctly.

It turns out that the front brakes are near due for service ((0)) in 1000 miles according to the computer wizard that lives in the TAC. I thought that the dealer would do all the service that was near due at the same time. They had the car all day and they could have kept it for the weekend if needed. I did not look at all the service logs before I took it in so I was surprised. The mini is on its 3rd thermal sensor, and 3rd water pump in 18,800 miles. I know this other stuff has nothing to do with the brakes but you can tell this car has had some care. What is the deal with the brakes? In other words do most minis just need pads at this point or are the rotors made of steel that is as soft as 3003H-14 SOFT series aluminum? OR is it just another sensor that needs replacing?
