Holy crap that's a huge discount! I'd imagine that most other dealers wouldn't match that price but if you want a Goodwood, it'd probably be worth the plane ticket to Chicago to pick that up.
That is a sweet deal. The car is often perceived as being overpriced, but it is well worth the cost.
Whoever picks up a Goodwood should enjoy it just as a MINI should be enjoyed. Buy it, drive it, recruit others to the brand...be aware of the culture and have FUN.

they're not the only dealer....
As the birthplace of legendary automaker Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Goodwood served as the inspiration for this extremely limited edition MINI Cooper S Hardtop – a collaborative effort between two of Britain’s most esteemed automakers.
With only 1,000 in the entire world being minted and only 2 available at Lauderdale MINI. This rare breed of MINI has been crafted with great attention to detail. From the outside, it’s quintessentially British – classically understated, with superb touches only noticeable to the discerning eye. Climb behind the wheel and the exquisite artistry of Rolls-Royce Chief Interior Designer Alan Sheppard is on full display, with lavish accents and luxurious surfaces handpicked at the Goodwood factory. But it’s only when you step on the gas or jet around your first turn that you’ll fully appreciate what’s hidden under the bonnet – the feisty, freewheeling 1.6L turbocharged heart of a MINI.
All but a small handful of these works of motoring art have already been spoken for. So please contact us if you would appreciate a private showing.

Sounds like it's overpriced to me and apparently the market thinks so as well. Otherwise the US allotment would be gone and dealers would not be offering 12K off sticker price. I think if they would have offered the package on the JCW cars only they would have sold better. But on a standard MCS I'm not sure it's worth it.
The dealer in Annapolis has one in the showroom. He's not discounting it like that!
Earlier today I was on the MINI configurator. Clicked on the "feeling lucky" link and up popped a JCW configured with options for $53K. WOW...

i went to my mini dealer for a new keychain and ended up chatting up the manager about the goodwood in showroom. his words were pretty much: "the paint is great, the interior is great, but once you drive it off the lot it's just a really expensive S. if you stick it on the used market down the road, you either need to find someone who knows what it is, or you're going to take a beating when you sell it."
The interior's done in leather and walnut at the Rolls Royce factory.

Sadly Richard, I must agree with you wholeheartedly. As was pointed out earlier, its highly doubltful its trade value would be anywhere near what would be required to make this car worthwile, so either rope it off at a collector museum somewhere, or ( hopefully ) just drive it like it ought to be driven and dont worry about what it cost or what its now worth.
Which dealer?

I think I'd pay the $50k asking price then!
