To Stripe or not to Stripe

Looking to purchase a countryman this week. I think it needs stripes but searching the internet I just couldn't find a Silver Countryman with the racing stripes front and rear. What's your opinion. Stripe or not?

You can buy them aftermarket. It should have almost no bearing on your vehicle purchase decision.

Go here: http://www.mini-graphics.co.uk/ and check out all the stripe options.

Nickkoto is right. If you find a car with stripes you don't like (or without stripes), buy it. It's easy to switch stripes.

The stripes don't have any bearing on my purchase decision (the clutch does). I just want some opinions on stripes, see how they feel about them. But only the JCW stripes the dealer has. I cannot find one picture of a real car with them on Silver.

If you look under the Crystal Silver CM thread there are some pictures. I had just my front done by the dealership - really had to work on the price for that! Got it for $100 installed - they wanted to add $150 for installation - ah, no... I think a MINI needs stripes - still deciding on whether to do the boot or not.

So when we order stripes they are dealer installed? Never factory?

Mine was on the lot so I don't know if you ordered it would come that way. My stripes were used as a final negotiating tool - tried to have them throw them on free.

i did what cm4smini did and had my dealer include them in the final cost, boot, bonnet and the side sport stripes. if you're buying a 2012 lot model, you should have a decent amount of bargaining latitude since 2013's are showing up.

IMHO minis need to be striped.

For me it depends on the color. Based on the configurator images, I really didn't like Pure Red without stripes.

One thing to think about regarding the stripes. Are you going to have a clear bra installed? If so I would leave the stripes off. Then if you want them, have them installed over the top of the clear bra.

Now that is the question...?? But now they have a new blue just for the paceman. Starlight Blue. But it might be to light.

To me, the Countryman absolutely needs FRONT stripes of some sort. The bonnet looks pretty weird and makes the car look very plain without them. As for rear stripes, it depends on the color, roof and the look you're after.

As for bonnet stripes on other MINIs, it all depends on the color combos. A regular MINI can look good with them or without. I've had a Cooper S hardtop and currently a Clubman S....both Dark Silver with no stripes. But the JCW Countryman that was just built is Royal Gret with regular MINI white bonnet stripes.
