Hood Scoop recommendation needed...

Hello All,

Looking to replace my stock hood scoop. I like the look of some of the modified scoops, M7 Ram and Voltage as examples. Also hope that the larger opening for fresh air might have some advantages esp. on hot summer days.

Can anyone recommend a good well made replacement that uses stock attaching points?

Thanks...

Stay away from M7 scoops!

The bolts they use have very small heads so they pull out of the fiberglass. They also have a lot of air bubbles in the mold so it outgasses when the body shop bakes the paint on. It took the Mini OEM body shop 3 attempts to get this scoop looking OK and then one of the bolts pulled out of it during installation. Definitely not worth wasting $500 for the scoop + paint.

If I knock M7 off my list, I've only got Voltage left. Anyone have experience with their product?

I've ordered the Voltage scoop! I have a GP Intercooler and have already
removed the plastic fitting on the inside of the bonnet which seems to be the
only part requiring modification. Time will tell!

Should have got one from Joel from JSART. He makes and designs most of the stuff for Group4. Nothing but the best. He was a areo designer for GM. Voltage stuff is also very good. Longboard has had one for years now.

A friend of mine has the voltage and is very happy with it. The plastic part inside will need some trimming but the outside fit is very good. The only thing he says is you have to keep on them to get your order out.

Thanks for the feedback. I was told when I made the order that the scoops are made to order. I think with the Christmas holidays and New Year celebrations I might expect longer than the 3 week quote.
My hood doesn't have the plastic shield, mods required its removal.

I'll try to remember to post how the experience turns out both the dealings with Voltage and the hoods fit and finish.

My M7 scoop keeps bubbling. Super pima man. Looks good, but crappy material or workmanship or both.

Well my hood scoop arrived this week. Ordered Dec.15th 2012 and delivered Feb.25, 2013, yeah it took a long time!

I sent two e-mails to Voltage concerning this order, first after Christmas cleared and I figured it was about time. A quick answer was had that the product was in house and just required prepping, would be shipped in a couple of days.

I e-mailed a second time Feb.21, this time with attitude and demanding money back if they couldn't complete my order!!! Again, I got a quick answer with shipping tracking number, product had been shipped on Feb. 12th.

Just in after trying out the fit. Fit is perfect, looks great/aggressive and maybe even functional. Upon removal of the stock scoop I noticed one of the rear screw fittings had broken so a replacement was in my future.

All in all the wait was worth it. Product is of a high quality and their understanding of international shipping saved me a few "bob to boot"!
Thanks..Voltage!

This looks awesome, i gotta get one. Did you paint yours or dip it? I'd hate to wait two months though.

Thanks, still in great shape and yes its Pasti-dipped. I think they sometimes make to order, I believe that's what happened to me. If they have in stock you might get a quick turnaround.
Good luck..
