Navigation & Audio XM Antenna in 2013
XM Antenna in 2013
Anyone know if the Satellite radio wire has a connection under the passenger seat? My 2010 Clubman was pre-wired even though I did not have factory Sat radio.....trying to determine if our 2013 also is prewired?
Pretty sure they aren't wired for sat radio anymore since MINI decided to forego the complimentary trial period. I was told I'd have to have it installed after the fact if I wanted XM in my new MINI. Now of course it may be pre wired and they might've been just talking about the receiver itself. Not positive.

In my wife's new 2013 MCS, although we did no order Satellite Radio it was pre-wired. IF you want to connect an antenna extension cable, to use a portable Satellite receiver, there is a junction under the passenger side kick panel, just in front of the door hinges.
Thanks for your help.
Can anyone out there help with this...see my post above.

Sirius/XM
All LCI 2011-2014) cars for the US market have all that's necessary to recieve Sirius/XM signals.
2012 models were all equipped with with free 1 year subscription to original owners.
2013 models did not come with free subscription unless ordered, but physical equipment was still in all vehicles. Activation of additional feature is protected by an activation or enabling code that is VIN specific and sold as an electronic part. The price of the code includes a trial 1 year subscription but does not include labor to install codes and reprogram vehicle.
That being said, finding a dedicated antenna connection for an aftermarket device may not be possible or practical like earlier non LCI cars that were "pre-wired" for Satellite Radio. On those cars, the Sirius reciever did mount under the passenger seat and there was an antenna connection located there.
I hope this information helps.

I understand the bucks!
I have not been able to locate the Sat. antenna other than at head unit and roof unit.
I don't think there is an easy access point to antenna like the older cars that were actually pre wired.
You may have to install another antenna on dash or roof, or try to splice in at roof or head unit.

My question is:
Why is there an SMB junction there, not just an open SMB jack.
There is a cable that goes up into the dash.
Surely, the dash radio has SAT built in, NO??
My understanding that the physical Sirius/Xm is already in the car and the dealer charges for the programming->
It is only for MINIs produced after 9/2009.
The FSC code must be installed by your local dealer, but the uninstalled code is also listed in the catalog:
SIRIUS RETROFIT ENABLE CODE (FSC), UNINSTALLED $375.00
SIRIUS RETROFIT ENABLE CODE (FSC), INSTALLED $456.00
Part numbers are for cars w or w/o Nav:
Sirius Retrofit Enable Code (FSC) / Vehicle Equipped without Navigation: Part No 65122336819
Sirius Retrofit Enable Code (FSC) / Vehicle Equipped with Navigation: Part No 65122336818
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did not purchase the SiriusXM radio option when I purchased my '13 Clubman. So, now for the good part. I received a 2nd letter from SiriusXM today. It says,
BTW, the letter included the Radio ID needed for SiriusXM to activate the radio.
Whadda think go'n on here.
Mistake by dealer to SiriusXM radio?
Remember, the satellite radio does not show up as a choice on my MINI Connected readout.

As a thank you for bringing in your Mini Clubman for a service visit on February 27, 2014, SiriusXM and your Dealer are giving you a Free 2-month Trial Subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
Since your vehicle is already equipped with a SiriusXM radio -- all you need to do is call 1-855-641-7405 to activate your free Sirius Select trial. There is absolutely no cost or obligation to you for this free trial. It is simply a thank you for your business.
