Joining the ranks soon

Well, that is after the fiasco with the dealership ends. Long story short, I have to make two trips instead of the one that was originally thought.

Anyways, we are adding a Clubman S to our driveway next week. Everything is all set. 2010, 35k miles, 1 owner, trade in, never auctioned, all service documents, water pump already replaced (hopefully not a sign though), Clubman S 6 speed with the dual moonroof, heated seats, mud mats, automatic climate. Pepper white, black strips, dark wheels (not sure which style).

We had been looking for a good commuter car for my wife to drive in and out of the city with. We had been leasing a Honda (only because the deal we got was ridiculous at $120/month with 0 down and 0 due at signing) but my wife decided no more Hondas in her future. She wanted a small hatchback and I wanted to stay relatively cheap (as it's a commuter car). Well, we had narrowed it down to a number of cars like the Impreza, Kia, and a few others since she originally wanted new. Then I mentioned a 2-3 year old Mini and though she was hesitant about used (and I hate buying new) she agreed to look. She tested one and was in love. I admit, I was suprised about the room. The two of us and my 4 year old son had plenty of room in it. Granted, we have a bigger vehicle for all of us for normal family outings, but this car was fun.

My son's first response after my wife asked him if he liked the ride was "Momma, you gonna get a lot of tickets in this car".

I do a lot of work on classic cars. I have a 65 mustang convertible and a 66 Volvo P122. Honestly, I can see myself keeping this car for a long time. Fun to drive. We'll see how it holds up.

I'm new here, too. Welcome from a newbie. So much information here--you will find it totally distracts from stuff you are supposed to be doing. (but don't really want to.)

The heated seats rock my world.

Well, Thought the fiasco with the dealership was about to be over, but no.

After waiting 5 business days after our bank said they transfered the money according to their instructions, we finally got word this Tuesday we could pick up the car and that it was ready. So, I take a day off on Thursday, take my truck and trailer down to pick it up. I walk into the dealership, look over the title and look at the finance manager and asked "Where is the lien release letter?" The response was a deer in the head light look. Now I'm waiting for them to get the lein release letter and then have that overnighted to me so it can be registered.

So, now I have the car at my house...unable to register it so it can't be driven (well, not legally). I did get to test it around the dealership before I accepted delivery of it. Previously I had only tried the normal Clubman. The S is so much more fun. For the time being, it's got some new run flat mud and snow, which will be nice for this winter, but then I need to find a nice set of summer tires and get a space saver spare so I can drop the run flats. I'll keep the run flats for winter use as I learned with my volvo's a good set of winter tires can drastically change how the car handles.

But here it is:

Wife has already named it Oliver. For your fans of Top Gear, you should know Oliver (the Opel Kadet in Africa). It's her Oliver.
