Anybody figure out a way to have their decal and a moonroof? I am getting a MCS with the premium pacakge, and only need the moonroof when it's OPEN. So... I thought it'd be cool to have the flag graphic on there, with a small cut line where the moving moonroof gap is.

Anyone try this yet? Will the mini decal stick ok to the glass?

Thanks!

Steve in LA.

Hi Steve! First post??....welcome! I think you can do graphics-wise pretty much anything you'd like to a MINI, sunroof or no. Check out CooperFlags under the sponsor listing. When you get ready to take the plunge on this, be sure to communicate w/ owners who have undertaken similar projects. They're out there, and they can help identify ALL the pros and cons. Good luck!!!

I've installed five different MINI roof graphics - four of them over sunroofs. Check them out here http://homepage.mac.com/dmpproductio...toAlbum48.html

So in answer to your question, yes you can go over the sunroof/moonroof, you just have to decide whether you want perforated material or not. Cooperflags sells a full flag that includes a perf section for the glass or you can just purchase a factory flag and install yourself. It's not the easiest job in the world to do but can be accomplished if you're patient. Check with a local sign and graphics shop if you're uneasy about the install. The dealer will not install a factory graphic over a sunroof.

Good luck!

Check out our Gallery pages as we have plenty to choose from.

You can have your sunroof and use it too! Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer what I can.

I have a checkered flag graphic just on the sun roof ONLY.........and it's absolutly fantastic. I purchased it from Coopr Flags and Matt is very good to deal with. The quality is top notch and the graphic really looks great. It also cuts down on the heat entering the cabin......but still lets light in! I had it professionally installed by a local graphic shop, the kind that does auto pin stripping etc. Give Matt a call..he also can make anything you want!

I have to agree, I just got the checkered flag with the "S" on my sunroof and it looks great, and Matt was great to deal with. For thoser of you in the sunny southwest (I'm in Nevada) it's also a good sun blocker. I'm thinking about something for the bonnet just not sure what to do quite yet.................mgg

Justin,

Both kinds are available. If you want the adhesive variety, check with Matt at www.cooperflags.com He'll get you what you need.

I also want a checkered-flag roof decal, however cooperflags.com doesn't list a recommended installer anywhere in the SouthEast US.

Hey Grvdgr,

Don't let that stop you; we didn't have one here either so I started calling auto glass tint shops and found a place that specilized in "wrapping" trucks, and busses with 3-M advertising film. Mine decal was the blk/wht checked with the Cooper S and adhesive backed type and they put in on dry. It only took about 30 minutes. Not only does it look great but it really cuts down on the solar gain so the car stays much cooler inside..............................mgg

My MCS had the static cling UJ sunroof flag, and it did come loose on a roadtrip, getting tweaked in the process, and had to be discarded. I bought a permanent (adhesive) one from Matt at Cooperflags and just had it installed on Monday, by a professional detailer who is a member of my local MINI club. It's perforated and it looks great! I love it!

I have had my CooperFlags DS/W checked-sun roof only cover on my 2002 MCS DS/W for well over a year. Looks great! A local professional trimmer did it. They have some great designs!

I saw someone who had a perforated graphic on their sunroof with a UV coating in the holes. This blocked most of the hot of the sun but still let thru sum light. Anyone know what this is or where to get it?

Ninja,

I have the Cooperflags perforated sunroof cover. It does cut down on the heat that the sunrood allows through, and when used in conjunction with the interior sun screens does a good job of making the a/c perform better.

p.s. I have a white roof, my graphic is a perforated white background with a S.
Lots of compliments and it is practical to boot.
