I was surfing my TIS program and stumbled accross a picture of what appears to be a factory skid plate?

yep we all have it but it is plastic and doesnt cover as much as it should

 

Have you looked under your car lately? Look at that picture again. I'm talking about the large black thing covering the entire bottom of the engine between the control arms. Nittany did not come with anything remotely that large. Only the short plastic piece towards the front. The part in that pic covers as much as the Moss plate we bought last year.

 

That's one of those things (like 'parcel tray' vs. 'knee bolster' ) that are available in Other Markets.

If you have access to the BMW ETK CD (the factory parts list) you can get a part number and picture for that (you have to switch from 'USA' to 'ECE' (or some other market) to have it actually give you the number for the picture ...)

 

Where can I get a TIS program and does it cover maintenance issure too?

 

Actually, based on what I've seen, I think that's for the W17 engine, which is for the Mini One - which ain't sold in the states. I believe W10 is MC, and W11 is MCS. I guess that plate might fit on an MC or MCS, because my Moss skidplate uses four pre-existing holes; these might be where the One skidplate bolts in. I'm guessing it's plastic, which is why I don't care much about it - the Moss one is heavy and does a better job of protecting the underside, in my opinion.
