Tire&wheel question

I have a new 2012 Hatchback S, sold my 2006 but still have thewheels and snow tires mounted almost new runflats. Can I use them on my 2012 and not worry about the tire sensors?

Should be fine for 16 and 17" rims.

If you mean "Do old sensors work with new car?", the answer I think is "No".

The sensors have changed since '06, so those won't work, but the wheels will fit without an issue.

We bought OEM web spoke wheels with TPMS from a R53 owner and used them on my wife 07 R56s with no issues. I think the TPMS in the 2012 is different that my wife 07...can someone confirm this?

Fellow Mini owners you have made my day. That means I can still use them and the almost new snow tires, just will have no TPM. Excellent...Chili Pirate

I believe the tpms change was in 2009 or 2010.

The sensors changed in 2010. The light will be on if you use wheels with the old sensors. (annoying)
You can buy new sensors from TireRack, about $230.

Yes, but will those sensors fit my old wheels? Will the tires have to be remounted, rebalanced? Think I will put up with the light and use my tire gauge like I have been for the last 50 years of my driving. Bill

That's what opaque tape is for... Covering up annoying little lights on the dash... Lol.

Except I think that the warning shows up in the main display as well as the dedicated warning light. But I'm still trying to figuree this out...

I have a 07 Cooper S as well. The 2012 actually has a sensor mounted in the wheel to sense pressure loss. The one in mine and your wife's 07 R56 uses a counting method to count the rotation of the tires and compare it to the other 3 tires on the Mini to detect loss in pressure. The counting method is way better IMO because I can swap wheels on my mini and not worry about buying $200+ sensors which I could put toward tires or mods.
