Luggage racks

We have a 2007 Mini with sun and moon roof. We want to get a luggage rack as we also have 2 cocker spaniels who own us and the back of the Mini, known as Daisy. We take them with us ll the time. Need some guidance. We spoke to the maintenance manager at the dealership and his quote was close to $1,000. this includes the base system and what he called the basket. Not sure what the basket is?? Is this a reasonable price?? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Got my racks for 08 R56 Hatch from MINI dealer for 217.00. The basket attaches to the racks to hold your luggage. I think the basket runs 175 or so. They were quoting installation as well I'm sure but most folks DIY.

thanks.....is this a rack that attaches via screws or clamps? I found this one at prolineracks.com

Mont Blanc 2002 - 2012 Mini Cooper roof rack

Mont Blanc 3000 series Mini Cooper car roof luggage racks.
Cross bars, cross rails that attach to the roof of the Mini Cooper without the need for tools.
Price: $259.95

and will look at a Car Roof Top Cargo Bag.....does this look doable???? Again thanks for your help....

Mine are oem made in Germany for MINI. The gutter has four removable 2 inch strips that are perforated. You tear or cut these out to expose a slot the feet slip down into in the rain gutter snug against the roof. Read directions carefully! They are simple but I am a skimmer! I did not notice that the two racks are different. There is a front and back rack and to almost eliminate wind noise you must have them oriented correctly. I mounted mine wrong the first time and they created the most godawful rumbling noise you ever heard at 28 mph! I was going to send them back but finally read the directions again and reversed them. The front rack has little nubs engineered to the bottom to somehow redirect airflow and quiet the noise. There is noise at highway speed but tolerable if you really want to haul stuff. Don't know how Mont Blonc attaches.
Heres how OEM does.

Oh the kit comes with a hex key and a small torque wrench for installation and four small plastic inserts to install in the slots if you remove the rack. I've not had mine off but no leaks yet and been in numerous hard rain storms and wash weekly. Good luck!
