Navigation & Audio iOS 6 woes
iOS 6 woes
I downloaded the new OS for my iPhone yesterday, iOS 6. Now my mini is not recognizing when I plug my phone in to use the iPod. It doesn't even register! The iPod connection kit was important to me and was an expensive feature that is now not working :( Anyone have any ideas?
Do you happen to know if you have the latest update installed for your Visual Boost/Nav? I did the update a few days ago, but i think the updates been around since April. I didn't know mine was behind. Anyway, I think were going to see another update coming soon from Mini to address iPhone 5/iOS 6 issues in the near future.....I hope.
Checked in the computer but no option for updates. Problem seems to have sorted itself out though

Not sure if it's related, but I play music through an ipod classic connected via cable... and every once in a while, it just doesn't work. says it's not connected. If I unplug it and re-plug it in it shows up for a second, then disappears. I can never get it to work. But then the next day when I start the car- it always comes back just like nothing had happened. NO idea what that's about. It happens maybe once every 2 weeks. It's not an iphone and it's not iOS6, but it sounds similar to what happened to you.
Did a bit of searching, seems iOS 6 broke a huge number of car stereo interfaces of all manner of makes and models.
I'm happy to report doing a backup and restore through iTunes seems to have fixed it.
Some people on the interwebs are thinking some part of doing the 5.x-6 upgrade is what breaks it.

I've had zero functionality problems since the upgrade but what's the deal with no more charging using the Y-Cable? If I want to charge my phone I have to unplug it and use a cigarette lighter. 1st world problems but still annoying.
Same issue for me

Stats:
2011 MCS non-Connected with H/K and steering wheel controls
iPhone 4s with iOS6 (never used the phone in my MINI with iOS5)
Has anyone noticed that when you try to skip to the next track using the steering wheel controls or stereo **** while listening to Spotify/Pandora that it pauses the internet song and begins playing songs from the Music app? Occasionally, the Music app will begin playing in the middle of a Pandora song.
The stereo also seems to be having problems displaying song data from Pandora/Spotify.
Weren't you able to skip (forward) songs within Pandora/Spotify using the stereo controls?

Has anyone else had the isse that started this thread. I noticed someone stated to revert back to IOS 5 and wait for a software update for the car. I have the same issue. Any apple device that still has IOS 5 worked via the usb interface, any that I have updated to IOS 6 does not register on the mode display. I just get USB and AUX. USB does nothing.
Thanks

I've read this thread, and am wondering what the consensus is with ios 6 & MINI Connected. I ask because I will be purchasing a Roadster with Connected soon, and recently replaced my Android phone with an iPhone 4s (with ios 6) primarily in anticipation of getting Connected. Unfortunately when I bought the 4s, I didn't realize that there were issues with ios 6. I can probably go back to the Verizon store and return the 4s with an iPhone 4 which still has ios 5, however, I"m wondering if it's worth doing that. I'm new to iPhones so excuse my ignorance: even if I return my 4s for a 4, won't Apple eventually push the upgraded to ios 6 to the phone anyway?
Any recommendations?
Also, I saw this asked by someone else, but didn't see a reply: since ios 6 does away with Gmaps, I assume the Google send to car feature is eliminated as well, correct?

bbooker.. I'm using my 4S/iOS 6 in my '12 roadster S w/connected/nav. I haven't noticed any real show stoppers since upgrading to iOS6. Google send to car is supposedly broken, but i never used that since it was broken to send to car from the iPhone for iOS 5 anyway. It only worked from the desktop version of maps..
Hindsight is 20/20, i would have rather spent the nav/connected $$ towards a JCW over my S!

FYI, I had issues with my iphone 4 after the update. I now have the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it also does not work. I'm hoping there will be an update for the car shortly. The dealer says all of theirs work.
There's always the aux jack I guess.

lots of replies here - i will add - NOT WORKING FOR ME. frustrating.
specs:
-- 2011 with harmon kardon system and no nav. i connect with the MINI supplied wire to the apple connection on iPhone.
-- iPhone 4 running latest iOS6
it will connect, play, and for about 30 seconds i can get into a play list. but then that's it. song titles are stuck, i can't fast forward or go back, i have to listen to songs in the order played. if i try to go back in the menu it gets stuck on the "loading..." warning on the face of the stereo.
:(
at least it PLAYS. but still, so very annoying.

I have a similar setup as you (2011 HK, no nav, iPhone 4S with iOS6) and I've started having problems with my Bluetooth (phone) and iTunes/Spotify playback. Bluetooth froze after a call and wouldn't let me cancel/end or do anything with the stereo until I was able to turn the call completely off and back on. iTunes music from my phone randomly pauses Spotify music and begins playing in addition to playlists not always being available.
iOS6 issues or MINI ?
