Couple questions

1. Whats the average and high temp these little pocket rockets run at typically, during just normal driving, and when you're really stepping on it?
2. Whats your typical shift RPM?

I picked up my '08 Cooper S this Friday, had to do a coolant flush today (the one thing I did NOT check when inspecting the car. idiot!). Anyway, after the flush and refill, it took quite a bit to bleed the air out, went into the 'hidden menus' on the tach and watched my temp.

Looks like I've got the air bled out, I think, average temp when just cruising is around 104-106C, sitting idle is in the high 90s. There were a couple times when the temp spiked to 115C, but it dropped down as fast as it rose, last bit of air in the coolant system getting purged?? Temp seemed to get higher if I shifted at too low of an RPM.

If someone could check their temps while they're out and about so I have something to compare to, that would be great!

My previous car was a 2001 VW GTi VR6, and I love it, but its SO different than the Mini! The VW was a torque monster, I rarely ever had to go above 2000RPM to get around, and I've never driven a turbo'd car, so this will take some getting used to. Loving it though!

Thanks,
Nick

Our 08 ran between 220 and 230 (105-110C). If its under constant load, the temperature tends to drop down to 180 (80C) as the second thermostat kicks in.

Shift points depend on how fast I'm going. 3k or so when being mellow and 5600-red line if I'm in a hurry. The engine tends to be happiest around 3500-5500.
