Got Goodwood?
Got Goodwood?
OK, get your mind out of the gutter. This afternoon at the British Invasion (britishinvasion.com) MINI of Burlington set up their tent and brought along a few cars to show off... a coupe, a clubbie and their allocation Goodwood MINI, all $50k plus of it.
The dealer rep was gracious enough to invite me to sit in the car and while it was extremely well appointed (see below for options) I did not want to sell my house to buy it. It was my first time seeing one in person, and I cannot help but wonder if anyone knows or has heard of one that was actually sold. I will try to snap a few more pics at the show tomorrow and post them here.

Interior Design.
Top quality natural grain leather seats and interior in Rolls-Royce Cornsilk Beige.
Rolls-Royce Walnut Burr Veneer interior trim.
Instrument dials in black with Rolls-Royce type.
Top-quality lambswool over-rugs from the Rolls-Royce product range.
Headliner in cashmere.
Exterior Design.
Rolls-Royce Diamond Black Metallic paintwork.
17-inch light-alloy wheels.
Aluminum side scuttles with embossed design.

I was chatting with my MA here in Victoria, Canada a few weeks ago. He said they had one parked in the underground area of the shop awaiting pickup. Someone bought it for their 18 year old daughter.
I saw one driving about downtown LA about a month ago. It has a beautiful interior but I can't imaging paying around $24k for a package consisting of an upgraded interior, blacker paint, and a hoodscoop delete.
I'd get a 650hp Mustang Shelby GT500 for as much as this costs.

One sat on the my dealer's showroom floor for quite some time. Don't know if it has been sold or not. Just curious, is each dealer required to take one? Same with the 10th Anniv. model. That has an additional $2,500 of plastic decals. Go figure?

At Ferman? I bought my MINI there. MA said to me while I was waiting around for something, "Want to see a $50,000 MINI?"
Is it just the picture or is the leather on the driver's seat already messed up? Looks wavy / stretched out.
Floor mats don't look like they'd be worth much as floor mats... On the plus side you could use them to wash the car.

I think it is a beautiful car. The diamond black is perhaps one of the prettiest blacks I've ever seen. I sat in the car at the dealers and it is really nice. I think that someone with a love of Mini, but the ability/desire to have true luxury would really like this car. It was too rich for my blood, and I can't imagine keeping that interior clean. Without a doubt though it is a great car.
The mats if you are a grub then they would be a problem. For us they are not an issue this Mini isn't used daily and since being delivered in May it hasn't been vacuumed inside because we take care when entering the car.
Most people consider there own values which is fair. But I have a JCW for track day and general Mini fun. The Goodwood is not my only car.
I think the discounting of the Goodwood in the USA is a sign of the basket case that your economy is over there. In Australia there was no issue selling them at 82k with most sold before they even land here.
Our economy may be a "basket case", but that has nothing to do with the price drops on the Goodwood. It has a narrow audience that in general doesn't appeal to most Americans. We like BIG and flashy! Remember the stupid Hummer, Escalade...? (Tongue in cheek)
Oh I am well aware of the big flashy attitude. However I believe if your economy was better and people were more willing to spend then there would not be so much discounting. I did get a 6000 discount on my Goodwood but that was because I brought 2 cars that day.
