Am I in trouble for SCCA?

I was just reading the rules for SCCA Solo 2 (Central FL region) and I noticed that none of the classes before Prepared Class allow supercharger pulley modifications.

I have a 15% reduction pulley.

Am I going to have to race the real race cars because I needed a little more power?

I was planning to lower the car, do I/H/E and a rear sway bar, but I feel like PREPARED CLASS is a little extreme. Those guys have real cars.

Anyone run into this problem?

Just take your S14 around the track sideways, like your name implies

Thank you for the flaming.

I haven't driven Silvias in a while.

Ironically, when I made that screen name, I had an S13 Silvia.

Apparently, I'm just a ricer at heart and have no place on a track in my R53.

Actually I'm super into drifting I've been known to drive 400 miles just to watch an event. A buddy of mine has a 91 (I think) S13 Hatch. When I got my R53 it convinced him his KA either needs boosted or he needs to swap in an SR

The reason I bought my R53 is I was in need of a new (to me) daily driver and given the fact that I have to endure the Ohio winters and inevitable snow, I didn't want a RWD car...otherwise I would have searched long and hard to find something I could drift in my spare time.

To answer the original question - yes, you're kinda screwed. Unless you're running SM or a Prepared class, the pulley upgrade isn't allowed. That being said, if your pulley is at least black in color, most tech inspections will probably not find it. However, if you get protested by someone in your class, chances are you'll be DQ'd.

The only people who don't run into preparation problems are those who buy a car specifically for SCCA autocrossing and prepare it by the rule book.

your in SMF man, welcome to the game. You cannot run a pulley in anything other that street mod, mod, and prepared classes. so your out from stock to street prepared. If all your doing is campaigning locally your car with a pulley will be competitive in SM or SMF. plus you'll have fun doing it. Nationally youll be smoked. Ive been racing my car nationally for 2 years and the mini though feasible in SMF with enough (rediculous amounts) funding, your gonna have a hard time beating the civics and integras with boosted k20's

A boosted K20 is only street modified?

Don't worry at all about the class you are in - really! Go run SMF and have a good time. You will be able to find another car that is running similar times, and use that as a measure of your own progress.

I was banished to ASP in '04 and '05 before they let the Works trunk kit into STX - it was still fun, and as a beginner the class was pretty irrelevant.

Good luck to you.

Cheers,

Charlie

I agree just have a good time. Dont think about any of this out classed stuff until your a 10/10ths driver. Once that time comes them build a car for national competition until then drive, drive, drive. there are 1-2 local events every weekend from march till october every year. Just have a good time and tear it up.

Yes boosted K20's, We were crushed at the pro solo by the K20 Teg making like 720hp. When I talked to him in impound he has 50k outside of the initial car cost. I know my mini will never be a national champ car unless I hit the lottery and even then on my best day Im only a 8/10ths driver. Eliminating that the car is the root of the problems and fixing yourself before fixing the car is the name of the game.
