Thinking about painting my 06' MCS!

Hey guys, just want some opinions and suggestions on a new paint job! I am currently rocking the Pure Silver with Black Top and Side Mirrors.. Though I want something unique and different. I just ran into CalForHelp's thread and WOW am I in love with his paint job: " https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3563130 "

Anyways, I was thinking of doing something similar. I want the same White, and I'd love to have that paint job, but I don't want copy him. I LOVE LOVE Black and White together, though what if I did a white and different color? Spice it up a bit? Idk! Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?!

Also I live in Las Vegas, how much would a paint job run me, do you think?

how much do you want to pay?

Think about this: if you change the color, you can either paint the outside, leaving all the door jams, engine compartment etc in the original color. For that go to Macco and get it done for $500.

To paint it right . . . . . $4000? probably more . . .

Talked to a guy just this morning who works in a vinyl shop. He told me he can wrap a car for a heck of a lot less than paint. Might be worth looking into. If you decide to go with paisley next year, easy peasy.

Woo didn't know Matte White would run me $4,000+ haha. I'm not really looking to spend more than $1,000 on the paint job.

Well... for that you can have a reputable shop paint about 80 percent of your bonnet or Maaco can put on two coats!

while the new color does matter - for example red pigment costs much more than white - your major issue is changing color and doing it 'right'

if you do a wrap - your door jams etc remain the original color. Since everyone will know it is a wrap this may not matter to you. But in a paint situation, this is a big (ugly) situation.

I had a car's paint trashed by hurricane Andrew - the car had been sand blasted for all practical purposes. Working thru insurance I got an estimate the insurance would live with to repaint the car at a quality shop. Then I asked the shop what the additional charge would be to change the color.

1. Times 4 the original price

2. They would not take the job even at that cost; did not want to spend the time to do it. . .

Vinyl wraps run around $2,000 to $4,000 give or take depending on the company and how much (and well) the car is wrapped.

I'd vote for vinyl over paint. It's reversible, protects the factory paint & less $$. Should you plan to sell, repaint might cast doubts about car's accident history even if there'd been none.
