Need some help asap!!! Motegi MR125 16x7's over JCW Brakes

Hopefully someone see's this post.. I need to find out if the 16x7 Motegi MR125 wheels will fit over the JCW brakes. I have a 16" JCW brake kit, but I cant seem to get a local company here to get some of these to test fit on my car...

or, if you have 16x7's that are good price and are light, let me know what you have.. (the MR125's are only 125 each and are 15lb each).

Thanks!!

I do not know for sure but I seriously doubt any 16" will fit.

I wonder if a spacer would help on this.... Its so hard to decide on this without being able to test it out.. lol

I don't think that is the issue yet. I think it is more the diameter.

Measure the radius from the center of the wheel hub to fartest point of the JCW brake calipers. Then, measure the inner wheel radius. If that is OK, then we can start looking at offset.

And I just noticed you are quite lowered. Then you have to be quite careful not to push it out too far or it will rub or even cut you tire (which was a problem I had).

the diameter should be ok since I have a 16" kit installed. I will measure when the wife gets back from work.
I'm also waiting to hear back from the Mini dealer on what 16's can be run with my setup. I'm not sure why they would sell a 16" kit if you cant run 16's with them...

Now I am confused. When you say the JCW BBK, I am assuming it is the red caliper 12.4" rotor Brembos from the factory JCW. Is that correct?

Looks like mine is 11.6" rotor, not the 12.4". take a look on the shopminiusa.com. there is a 16" kit and a 17" kit... dealer confirmed this with me too..

I will measure later to confirm.

I see. You are the first one that I have found with that brake kit. Should fit 16" then. Measure the caliper clearance by measuring from the wheel center up to clear the caliper, then from that point to the spoke. Check that against the caliper width.

If you need a diagram, go to tceperformance.com and he has a diagram there somewhere.

what about the spacing between the outside of the calipers with the wheels? What spacing would I need? the Motegi SP10 have a 40+ backspacing and so do the Motegi MR125's, but, the SP10's are 17" and dont come in a 16".

Not sure about the Motegi/Small JCW combo.

Offset is important for clearance but the spoke design is even more important. Some spokes have a curve near the rim for better clearance, others do not.

For example, R104s Crown Spoke 17" are quite good while the R110 Pace Spoke 17" are quite bad and both are et48. R104s will fit the 12.4" rotor JCW but R110 will not.

Some rims with good et have such a poor spoke design that they will not fit even with a 15mm spacer.

If you have the JCW BBK kit on your R56 I don't think that you will be able to get 16" wheels over those.

I have the BBK and the rotors are 316x22mm and that it 12.44 inches. I had some 16's that would not go past the brake. Matter of fact I was thinking of getting some 17's not too long ago and found they wouldnt fit. Even though my OEM wheels are 17.

It's good you are asking the question. It might be that to go down to 16 you need to use spacers to offset the wheel away from caliper.

I ended up picking up some Motegi Traklite 1.0 17x7's for cheap.. lol.. these will do just fine for track days.... I think when the time comes to step into 16's, I will try to find a shop that will test some other wheels out on my car...
