JCW break in period really opens up the car

So I took my Roadster in for some service and I was given a JCW coupe loaner car. The coupe has 800 miles on it.
The first thing I noticed was how tame the car felt. No burble in the exhaust and overall felt timid.

I really like how the cars break in. My JCW has plenty of raspy burble and feels like its settling in nicely.

Anybody else experience this?

You sure the Sport button was pressed? Or that it was warmed up? My JCW burbled the day I took it off the lot.

yep. It was also a 45 min drive.

I remember my car feeling a little tame when I took it home also.

You got an early bloomer haha

Yeah mine worked the same way. Started kinda of mellow, now the exhaust has a really nice pop/burble on the overrun. I love this thing

How many miles were on it when you started to notice it?

I just turned 2100 miles. During my break-in, I pushed it really hard, not exceeding the recommended 4500 rpm, but a lot of varied load to really seat the rings. I could hear the exhaust note changing around the 1000mi. mark. It's even better now

Ahh okay, I have awhile to go... I'm just a little over 200 miles right now.

By the way, did you change your oil yet?

So are people saying there the car has a 'break in map' the ECU uses for awhile, cause I dont' think anything mechanically changes, and the pop/burble is all from the ECU. So it would have to be a different ECU map.
But then I dont' see the point of a 'break in map' that doesn't even limit RPM but has the need to just hold back on introducing a pop/burble that really has nothing to do with the car's performance. Has anyone ever looked into whether or not there is a break in map?

I always just thought people didn't get pop/burble right away cause most seem to not want to use the Sport button and baby the car for awhile.

New car, No (or very little) adaptation values set in the DME. Basicly the DME hasn't learned how it is going to like to be run, or how you like to run the vehicle, hence why the note in the JCW exhaust when new maybe a little undertone. There is no break in map. I can assure you though I've herd JCW's with less then 15 miles on them sound like JCW's that have 5k on them.

Oh and I drive them on a regular basis, new, used, molested, well taken care of.
