Ordering my first Mini! Looks: Emuling the WC50

First time poster, long time lurker, soon to be first time owner as well!

I have been talking with my dealer on a few different options he had in the lot, but decided to go full blown personnalised hardtop JCW. Now with the current slack in JCW production, I'll probably have to wait until November to take delivery of the bad boy... That wait will blow.

As anyone emuled the WC50 look with good succes? I would be intreagued to see pictures of the result. While i am well aware of the difference in color tint and metallic particles of BRG II, does the general feel of the car remain close?

Thank you for your advice, comments and pics!

I would say to just find a color combo you love. It could BRGII with white but a WC50 has a pepper white top and different paaint color. By trying to copy it you could end up feeling like you fell short. consider the color combo but look at all the other ones out there, too!

Hence why I want to emulate and not copy. I think the WC50 had shortcomings. I have tried and seen alot of combos in the past year and the one I have been the most impressed by in the real was the BRG II and white combo. It's the one that grew the most on me.

I would like to hear and see what others might have done on that front to get ideas. Why have you chose miror cap wise? Any carbon fiber options? I will go recaro + nav and alcantara wheel.

If I am not mistaken...a WC50 is just a regular JCW with an aesthetic package, i.e. special paint, PW roof, lots of carbon fiber pieces, etc.

what shortcomings do you think it had?

i would go with CF mirrors, hood scoop, tail gate handle, and rear diffuser. do some research on the satnav before you order it - a lot of members here on NAM hate it

keep in mind the alcantara wheel does wear out after a while

I bet they are delaying orders for the JCW units because they are trying to work in the builds for the GP versions. If I am not mistaken, they were going to try to build 2000 units in 2013.

I don't think they will have to delay many orders if any.

Compared to how many MINIs are built each year, 2000 is not a large number.

Lack of a sunroof is my main strike against it, but that's a personal thing. I've heard people argue that it adds weight, but I use my sunroof in almost year 'round weather.

actually i've had MINIs both with and without sunroof and i must say in our cars, without is much better. the lack of a proper sunshade really heats up the car in the summer time - the pano roof turns the car into a greenhouse essentially

That's a small sacrifice for me. I had a '06 JCW w/the panoramic roof and LOVED it, even living in the South where we have 105º + days. I almost never use my A/C; I'm a windows down/sunroof open kind of guy.
