So Ive been reading alot about this Death Rattle. I just purchased my R56s and I would like it to not get this at all. I cant really tell if its starting or not since the sound of the motor itself is different to me since it is my first non American car. Ive read about having the Timing Chain Tensioner changed and this cured/prevents this problem. Anyone out there get this part changed? How did it work? How much did it cost?

 

What year? It makes a difference. I really don't think there were problems after 2010. My 2011 is fine. My 2008 had it.

 

It's a 2007. Im considering having the tensioner re placed to hopefully prevent the issue. I was curious about the cost. Did you have it fixed in your 08?
