anyone had experience with these tires?

I am currently shopping around for a replacement set of tires for my 2007 mcs manual, non-run flats preferably. I'm torn between yokohama avid ENVigor, Goodyear Eagle GT, General Altimax HP, and Dunlop SP Sport 7000 A/S. Has anyone/does anyone run these tires and if so, what's your opinion on any of them? Or are there better alternatives? I think I've got the 195/55R16 size tires on there now fyi. Thanks for the help everyone !

Using only info from www.tirerack.com, I'd drop consideration of the Dunlop and Goodyear. The General Altimax HP looks pretty good as a Grand Touring A/S tire, and the Yoko ENVigor is an old favorite here; at least in the HP A/S category.

My own preference would be to move to the UHP A/S category and choose between the General G-Max AS-03 and the Kumho Ecsta 4X, and I think I'd get the Kumho. Both are higher user-rated than the others, and cheaper too (except the two Generals are the same price). Read the Tire Rack comparison tests and user-survey reports of each before choosing.

Had Goodyear Eagle GT on wife’s IS300.
Was very pleased with price, both wet and dry grip, as well as longevity.

I just bought two Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus non run flats from tirerack. I have a while to go before my runflats wear out, I'll report back when I have them on.

I think they cost $145 each plus shipping.

I have been riding on Goodrich G- Force Super Sports. I drive pretty spirited and they give good traction without being too harsh. I like them, but I am not as discerning as many on here.
I looked at the numbers hard before I bought my last set. I know that you can't go wrong with Michelins. Not the run flats, the pilot super sports. Just couldn't throw the money at them at the time. Not that I aint happy with these, just know the Michelins would do a little better a little longer.

I have had other Dunlop and Yokohama tires in the past, and I have been happy with them. I have no experience with General or Goodyear.

I think of General tires as a half-step up from an "off brand", but that may just be irrational prejudice.

I had the Yokohama Avid Envigors on my 07 MC manual, and just replaced them with the General Altimax HP. Traction is very similar, but I think the Generals are quieter. I have noticed the my gas mileage is slightly lower with the Generals, about 1.5mpg.

I have had all but the Yokohamas. The Goodyears handled well and had good tread life but seemed to ride rougher. My experience with Dunlop can't be printed here. I will never buy another. General is currently my favorite. I have Altimax HP's on my BMW and my wife's Mercedes, Exclaim UHP on my Mini and Grabber HT on my truck. I'll be trying the G-Max when the Mini needs new tires. I have been impressed with the ride, handling and wear of the Generals. The fact that they are cheaper than most isn't bad either.

Had Bridgestone RE960A/S on a previous car when they were non-runflats and absolutely loved them.
Understand they have been superseded by the RE970A/S in non-runflat.
Might be worth a look

My friends and I have been running Hankook Ventus V-12s for quite some time on all different makes, and recommend them to anyone looking. I'm sure people have different opinions, but they work great for us and I think they look very nice. $0.02. Tirerack.com usually has some specials, you can get 205/45/17 relatively inexpensively

Two nice inexpensive choices are the Hankook V12s and the Kuhmo Ecsta AST. The Ecsta's have a little more cushion for city driving. The Hankook's drive more sporty and grip nicely when they warm up.

I currently have the Yokohamas discussed here. They are MUCH less harsh as far as road imperfections than the Stock run-flats. The handling characteristics are very good, I have a real good feel for when they are starting to lose traction. With the run flats, i was surprised several times Mid-turn. I also hope to get more miles out of them than the last tires.

Continental Tire, aka conti bought the general brand a few years ago, and has "upgraded" the brand with some very nice, good performing tires that are very good competors to the asian imports and sometimes better $$ wise. Sure, they are still a value tire, but my set of General Exclaim UHP's have worn very good, and are very popular with BMW drivers....

I have the General Altimax. They're quiet and ride very nicely, but they hurt my MPG and feel a tad mushy in cornering.

Have Eagle GTs on my E36. They are a little hard, but they have good grip in all conditions. No complaints and they are at a good price too
