Have a SC pulley question and more

Long story short I purchased a 06 MCS from a dealer auction and have no idea what mods came with it . I was able to find the original owner/enthusiast and to my surprise they are not being helpful at all . I was able to put it on a lift and found that I have the JCW exhaust and suspension . I do not know if this is the factory pulley and do not want to order one if it's not . Thanks for the help

That is not a factory pulley, it is a reduced pulley. Sadly we can't tell the size by just looking at it.

the size should be stamped on the face of it. either 15% or 17%. could be a 19% but those aren't too common.

miniblu I did some internet surfing and I think its a minspeed pulley but they are out of business . I was having the mini get a complete maintenance and the tech threw out the belt so I am now trying to figure out % . This car is full of surprises so far can't wait to get it done .

What idea are you looking for? We can only tell you it isn't stock and the only thin you can do is get close to see if it is stamped with the size. Other that that, we can't tell you squat. Lots of vendors made pulleys like that.

And the vendor/make of the pulley does not really matter...
they are all, basicly, the same...slight differeances in attatchment methods or colors, but are all cnc machined metal....once installed, basicly the same...even the size varriation of the common ones, usually a 15%, newer tend to be 17%, and a slight chance of a 19...but thses were never common, troublefree or "mainstream".

Was nothing stamped on the face of the pulley?

You either need a 060532 or a 060535 belt depending on the pulley.

The 60535 belt will work fine for the 15% or the 17%...a few folks are starting to use the 532 length belt as a regular for the 17%....
Either way, change it every 2 years, or more often, and you are good to go!!
The stock belt uses metric sizing, is 1388 mm i think...a new on is ok with a 15%, but as it stretches, it will slip....the jcw is pretty much the same ...ok when new, but as it stretches with a smaller pulley, it will slip at higher rpms....so aftermarket belts in the previous posts are the most commonly used.

Maybe you can measure the diameter of the pulley to tell what % reduction it is? Just a guess I am throwing out there...

Not a bad idea...but it has been tried, and the numbers are not really useful...
The diameter to the edge vaires due to different designs and heights of the edge of the pulley that keeps the belt alighned....the actual diameter is from the groves where the belt rides....and few folks can measure down to the 1/2 mm needed to determine 15, 16, 17%, and even these numbers vary a bit by manufactures...
Older pullies tend to be 15%...if it is a minspeed (was a respected dealer in it day) it is most likely a 15%.....the 17% have become popular in the last 5 years....

as for other items your car may/may not have, if you go to a mini meet, another knowlegable owner can take a quick look and let you know what you have...
It is possible to post a few pics, but 1 or 2 minutes of hands on is very useful and much defenifitive.

To be honest, I use a 535 on my 17% and don't have a problem with slipping. So you are right, it should be fine.
