QwikLip? Have you guys tried this yet?

Hey guys, I just ordered the QwikLip...looks like a decent and easy to install product, especially for the price. Supposed to act as protection for your bumper, as well as more aggressive looks...saw other Mini's with it, and they look awesome!

Hopefully mine looks just as good!

I bought it from their site, www.qwiklip.com.

Will post pics when it comes in!

Looks like it could be the Home Depot garage door lip people have been doing for a couple of years.
Looking forward to the pics.

Well I found this posting on a website that they were posting on, so I think it clears it up:

"Hey guys, looks like there is some confusion about our product. Our QwikLip has been sold successfully for over 3 years now with thousands of satisfied customers. Our ebay feedback will confirm this.

I would first like to point out that I can guarantee you this product is not found in any hardware store. Home Depot sells a garage door sealer manufactured by Thermwell Products, and many people complain about the flimsiness of the material, flapping in the wind, etc.

Our lip is made of a harder rubber EPDM material, which will not flap around, and can actually withstand severe weather situations (snow, downpour, hail, etc). We searched around and have found the best material we could in order to offer the best quality rubber lip.

We guarantee that you will like our product, and stand behind our product 100%. For those of you that have been buying from us, I would like to thank you for your business and promise to continue delivering the best available lip at the lowest price around.
"

Regardless, for $27.99, you really can't go wrong!

I bought one and haven't installed it yet on my R56. It doesn't go well with the lines of the car as on a R53. Might look at it again. I believe I paid $35 from them on ebay with shipping.

Good to know there is another option.
Post pics when you get it installed.

I will hopefully be installing the lip tonight, so I'll keep you guys posted! Looks very nice though, quality of materials is great from what I see.

i did the "home depot" version. waste of $$ IMO. However, i do have the aero kit, so it doesnt come out with quite the same look.

I DID however, try this on the wheel arches! and, it does make them look more "pronounced", and it makes your car look lowered too! the downside: you have to make a bunch of holes in your wheel arches, and, there really isnt a good place to "end" each end of the liner without it looking stupid. i can post a couple pics, if anyone is interested... i was going to at first, but figured it looked too stupid and cheap, so i took them off my car before even finishing :(

Looks good, but it looks just like the HD mod. I did the Home Depot way and I'm completely happy with it. It was about $8 for the lip (and more if I want to share) and some self tapping screws. Very sturdy and eliminates that nasty scratch noise when you go over speedbumps at a bad angle in a lowered car.

Ya the QwikLip is a little sturdier rubber than the DIY lip you make from Home Depot, according to them. I didn't want to use screws either, and QwikLip works perfectly with the 3M tape supplied. Sticks like glue! I tugged on it after installing, and it's not going anywhere haha.

So it's a Lowes seal, not HD. Still not worth $30.00 to me. I AM running a garage door seal on my car. It was the remnant after replacing my actual garage door seals. Rather than pitching it, I glued it on with weatherstrip adhesive. It's held up fine.

That looks better than the other one. Not so "in your face." Good job.

I ordered the Qwiplip and it's on its way.
$27 bucks is not alot and no self tapping screws.
Doesn't sound like a big deal to me.
Can't wait to get it installed.

To each his own.

I am wondering if by installing this LIP, does it effect the air flow that is going to the power steering fan if you have the OEM extension ( 06 models ) that takes the air from the front of the car ? ? ?

Any thoughts out there ? ? ?

You can use the same 3M double sided tape with either lip. I figured after all the humidity, rain and wind here in FL, it's more worth it to have some 1/8" hidden holes in bumper, especially since I have enough left over to make other lip if something happened. The guy on eBay selling the lips is literally using photos from the NAM "DIY Home Depot front lip" thread for $30

I figured since no one put up a shot of a regular Cooper, I'd show mine. Again, I used some kind of door weatherstrip I had left over from what it was intended for, after repainting my garage doors. It was ready for the trash pile, since there wasn't enough left over to do another door. Then I saw the thread here. I happened to have 3M weatherstrip adhesive on hand, so used that. I feel it's the best product for this application, but if I had the double stick tape and not the adhesive, I'd have used that. I really don't see any benefit to drilling holes.

Yes, it's my signature pic. The only photo of my car complete that I happen to have since doing this about a year ago.

Looks good BlackBomber!

Oh and FWIW, the example photos of the "QuikLip" in the first post are actually the garage door seal.

Thanks! Yes, that was the thread that gave me the idea. I hadn't recognized the photos, but good catch! I'm not knocking the idea, or the specifically packaged product. I just don't like seeing people fooled, that's all.

Well if he took the $10 DIY and repackaged it as a $27 "kit" more power to him.
I wish I'd thought of that.

Cheers.

Qwiklip posted on some other thread that they guarantee you can't find their product at home depot/lowes..I guess its a rubber they sourced themselves. Just what I read though, it def feels different than my other lip on my other car.

Hm, strange. The stuff I got from HD is durable EPDM rubber:

I stole this photo off of the DIY thread, but I bought this exact product. Up at the top of the product. Mine does not flap, or even move at all for the matter, it bends when going over bumps or steep driveways, like all rubber.

I dunno, to me, it seems like an easy way to re-market something and make money. But I haven't seen the actual product and the photos on their site aren't detailed enough. From your photos, it looks exactly like the material HD sells though, down to the texture even. It looks really good though, so if you're happy, then the stuff has done its job!

EDIT: QwikLip.com is just the HD garage seal..with proofz! Next page please!
