CAI and Strut Brace combination

I know alot of this has been discussed and I've read countless threads that deal with CAIs (pros and cons) and strut braces (again pros and cons) and WITHOUT reviving any of those debates can anyone offer just the facts about which CAIs will fit with which strut braces?

Before I commit to buying both or either of these I'd like to know what my options are.

Thank you so much in advance.

I'm still wondering if there's any way to fit anything with the DDM RIS system though. I don't see how it would be possible, but it would be great to know if it is.

First, thank you for the link to the other thread.
Second, I feel like a right bonehead for not finding that myself and I apologize for asking this question again.

I'm going to go through the threads I can find and the one you gave above and make a matrix of what fits with what so I can do some more research.

I'll post my matrix and hopefully it will help you and others as well.

Cheers.

The NM intake works with the M7 J-Brace (Curved) strut brace but it will not fit properly with the original strut brace.

Has anyone been successful fitting another strut bar besides the GTSpec GTS-SUS-1333 with the DDMWorks RIS? Please let me know.

My AEM CAI does not work with any strut bar currently. However, that is soon to change end of Sept.

I'm curious to see how they work around this, I have an NM strut bar and NM intake...was looking more into the AEM design, but do not want to sacrafice the bar.

Gtspec is a good STB that will fit a good amount of intakes because it is bent out and is flat on the bottom.http://gtspec.com/product/gtspec-fro...minicooper-r56

Dang that strut bar is soooo cheap compared to the NM, wish I knew about it before I bought the NM one

I'd have the DDM Ris or AEM intake right now if I knew about this

No, but the minute something goes wrong and it's not a simple error, they will blame you and try to void your warranty.

When I had my 335i, I had a great SA and 'til the end he was great, but the minute I had a CEL and they couldn't diagnose it they instantly turned their back on me and tried to void my warranty blaming my intake and then my exhaust.

You've been warned...

I'm currently using the SuperAGS from m7tuning.com as well as their strut tower brace. I got the stb way before decided to go and get a CAI as the OEM is sort of like a CAI. Anyways the two combination was not good at all. I had a mechanic install the intake and when I was going for test drive I heard loud vibrating sounds. Unfortunately the intake was rubbing up against the STB. Before purchasing the CAI I specifictly asked Peter from M7 if the intake would fit well under the stb. Naturally he said yes and there should be no problems with the two combo so I bought it. Come to find out the right side didn't have enough clearance and the left side was fine. I don't know how it happened other than that the intake is not sitting flush on the bottom. I contacted Peter and he sent me small foam pieces to put I between the stb and the CAI. How ghetto was that? Nonetheless I used it for a week or so and the foam was flattened. So obviously this was not the solution. I call again and he tells me to flip the stb around so the logo was upside down. It made it better but the vibration sound was still there. I got so frustrated with this that I went to my brother in law who fixed helicopters while he was a marine. He came up with the idea that we should shim it. He went to home depot and found a shim and cut it so it was flush and not noticeable. he installed it under the elbows on the left side and gave me enough clearance even at high speeds so it didn't rub anymore. I did not want to give up the CAI since it was probably the best CAI on the market.

Speak for yourself bro...it depends on the dealership. My dealership knew everything I put on and I had some engine problem and they fixed it immediately without say "your warranty is voided now that you have this and that on your car." Truth be told what could a CAI possibly do to the cars engine? I merely gives you an increase from 2-5 hp and that's not going to break your car. Now if you installed an aftermarket FMIC and something went wrong then they will blame it on that. I would check with your dealership rather than asking you question here.

Speak for yourself? Haha, this is a typical situation a lot of people deal with due to the stealerships wanting any excuse to charge you more money.

On a side note, I guess the MFG for the strut bar needs my car for a couple more days. Dropping it off probably tomorrow and getting yet another rental :(. I really hate rental cars.

Luckily for me, my dealership uses common sense when trouble shooting issues. I go in with a fmic, exhaust, intake, and catch can on an older R56. Never had a problem, it really just depends on the dealership.

The hell with taking things off and swapping them back with OEM....how annoying.

Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act: Will using 'aftermarket' or recycled parts void my warranty?
No. An 'aftermarket' part is a part made by a company other than the vehicle manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer. A 'recycled' part is a part that was made for and installed in a new vehicle by the manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer, and later removed from the vehicle and made available for resale or reuse. Simply using an aftermarket or recycled part does not void your warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket or recycled part. Still, if it turns out that the aftermarket or recycled part was itself defective or wasn't installed correctly, and it causes damage to another part that is covered under the warranty, the manufacturer or dealer has the right to deny coverage for that part and charge you for any repairs. The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage.

Sadly its easier for them to blame and accuse, and hope you the owner don't know any better, and will then suck up the bill... I had to demand they show me the code that made my Craven Speed dip stick cause #1 fuel injector fail. They relented at that point but left verbage in the invoice indicating they still think the dip stick is the source of the problem.
BMW service does not extend past signing on the dotted line to purchase the car. There after, buyer beware, and be very aware of how the car functions before you go in with a fault...

I had ordered the GT Spec Strut Bar back in December. Called for an update and I was told it should be about another two weeks before it arrives. Once I get it, both the Strut Bar and DDM RIS are going on my car. Will post pics of the setup and offer feedback about the quality of fitment then.
