Resonator Removal

Guys, I am gonna order some exhaust tubing so a friend can do the resonator removal on my '09 JCW. Just want to confirm that 2.25 Stainless Steel is what I need.

Take it to a local muffler shop...most would do it for under 50 bucks and some under 25 depending on the shop!

It actually tappers slightly so its technically under 2.5 closer to 2.25. At least it was on my coupe.

under $50?

I'm still trying to find a place that would do it under $100. It must be my area(Rockvill, MD). The worst was Midas who quoted me $120. Then when I brought it in, got it lifted to show them what to take out the manager changed it up and said it's going to cost $400. No kidding. I got the F out of there without even arguing. Crooks!

$400?! I paid $40, but it's not stainless. I figure I'd put it back to stock before selling it, so galvanized was fine with me. Took them 10 minutes. I probably spent more time at their water hose cooling off the resonator to take it home with me that it was up on their lift.

There's an REM song about Rockville, MD...

For $400 they could at least take you to dinner first, YIKES! I did mine with my nephew so the labor was nil. We had a piece of stainless cut for cheap. Maybe $20 but I can't quite remember. We did remove the exhaust minus the downpipe from the car before welding. Some will say it's not necessary but since it cost me nothing to do I wanted to make sure the weld was spot on. I don't need to be inhaling exhaust down the road.

Sounds Incredible!

$400 !! those guys are flat out thieves, Just like Tire Kingdom etc. those guys are all flipping clowns. I personally do not go near those places, they prey on the average unknowing person, I see all these elderly people in those places and feel so bad for them because they have no idea they are being taken advantage of and thier wallets being raped.

I think you'll be happy with this. Light throttle, quiet as stock. On the gas..happy sounds.
