I got R90's on my MCS 17x7s with the DSST SP9000's. They're great
for show, but the weight of the wheelset is bothering me while braking.
I want to keep the mesh-type style for 17's as the brake discs
(especially on the back) are super tiny.

Im very materialistic about wheels and do not like to buy knock-offs
on my cars.

I am looking at the BBS RGR's but the offset is an agressive +38mm.
I am worried that since my ride is not lowered, the wheel would look like
it's sticking out too far.

The ASA AR1 are +42mm @ 21lbs, but literally a knock-off of BBS.

I only plan to wrap Yok Spec2's in 205/45/17 as I want to keep the
shoulder of the tire rouneded to keep the wheel gap from standing
out too much.

I do not want to alter my suspension on this car (no lowering springs).

My cheapest route would be to just get some Spec2's wrapped on my
R90's...but I want to keep the runflats for long trips.

suggestions??? (its been bugging me for the last few weeks)...

Ken, I have actually been considering the BBS RGR’s as well. It’s not that I don’t like the OZ Chrono EVO’s, it’s more that I really want the RGR’s…my spare is useless for the front wheel, so I have fix a flat in the boot. I have heard the RGR’s are a fantastic wheel, but have not seen them on an IB MINI yet.

Thanks for the input.

dan, I checked tirerack's site..I was about to place the order for the RGR's
when they gave me notification that they are out of stock. kinda lost the
momentum...

The volks are nice, but I want to keep my MCS looking some what 'pretty'
not too sporty. I have a modded WRX for that.

out of stock? dang...although maybe it's better for the time being. Weather is still iffy around here for summer tires.

It really is a gorgeous wheel. A very classy choice.

If you're looking for something pretty, I such a set of Panasports. They're only available up to 16" but they are a classic look for the Mini. And you can get them in IB. See...

What's the weight on the panasports? They're pretty cool. I've seen that style on the classics...

Kenchan,

Take a look at Superlites
http://www.superlite-wheels.com/
IMHO they are incredible...but real pricey...
Many models to choose from.
Here's a few examples... http://www.superlite-wheels.com/wheelpage.asp?cat=4

Peace,
D

Ken, another thing to consider with the Parada Spec2's is the noise factor after 6 or 7 thousand miles. Even after recommended rotation, the road noise is significant. They are a very sticky and attractive tire, but do get loud. You may be running them already on the WRX though, so I am not sure if you had experience with them....

I'll add another vote for the Panasports. Jerseygirl has them on her MCS and they are the best looking wheels for a MINI in my humble opinion. Additionally, 17" wheels just don't look right on a MINI to me...

We weighed the wheel/tire combo and with a SP9000 they are about 41 lbs. I believe the bare weight is about 17 lbs.

Yeh, the panasports are cool wheels, I've yet to see it in person on a
mcs..

d- wow, i didn't even know about Superlites. this one kinda looks like yours
in a different color. thanks. I looked at their designs, but not sure if its
the direction I want to go as they look super sporty. Some of those wheels
would look good on a AE86 (drift machine).

The TK5's (speededitions) I got as my winter set is kind of the direction
i want to go for aftermarket. I don't want the elaborate tuner type design,
but more of a subtle factory look. Maybe I should just get a factory set???

Check out these links. You can have a wheel made to preferrance; offset, look, size. Price very competitive with the RGRs and VERY orginal.

Keizer wheels
Kinesis wheels
Kodiak wheels
Jongbloed wheels
HRE wheels

HRE's are awesome, but not in the same price league as the RGR's...they start at over $600 a wheel. But you can bet you will be among the few running them on a MINI....

I like the Superlites. They even have a magnesium wheel. But they don't show their weights. Anyone know what they weigh?
