I had some idiots doing some labor in my house today. While one of them was loading some tools in their truck, they wacked my perfect door with a big miter saw. It left a huge ding, right through the paint.

I am absolutely sick to my stomach. Im still waiting to hear back from the contractor. I know hes going to want to have it fixed by a body shop with Bondo and paint. That aint happening. My MCS is only a few months old with only 3000 miles on it. I had a brand new door skin this morning when they got here. I want a brand new door skin after they leave.

Anyone have any ideas what a brand new painted door skin from BMW costs?

That totally sucks.

Call CAC and you can ge a brand new unpainted one for 20% less than whatever the dealer would have charged. I know that this isnt exactly what you are looking for but just as rough barometer, dealer wanted ~400 for a bonnet (MCS) and CAC wanted ~250+shipping.

Good luck with the repair

Chuck

Sorry to hear about your bad news, but here is a little more for you. You cannot get a MINI door skin only. You must get a new door. The cost to fix the car will end up running about $700 if it's done right. They have to get the door, then take off alot of parts in order to paint it. You don't want them to just paint the door because the color won't match perfectly. They have to either blend the paint back on the quarter panel or front fender or possibly both depending on the location of the dent. Good luck on the repairs. Stick up for yourself and you'll get it.

I must have a magician for an autobody guy then. I recently had a new bonnet and cowl top put on my indi blue MC due to road debris damage, and I defy anybody to see a color discrepancy between the new parts and the old. He did an absolutely perfect job (probably why my dealer uses him for all their body work). If you get someone with the right skills to do it, it can be done.

Door shell as listed in the Mitchell Crash Manual is $272.00 part number R 41517033210 and L 41517033209. Hope that helps

p.s by the time you add in labor about 5 hours and paint time and paint it will most likely approach Teampajn total amount.
