2008 MCS Rear Fog Light Switch Plate Icon

Tired of reading through search threads for the answer to my question; any help would be appreciated. I know this car can not be reprogrammed for the rear fog lights to work but I want a switch plate and toggle installed for continuity.

Question:

If I purchase the new switch plate with rear fog light icon will it light up when the head/running lights are turned on?

I thought I had read on this forum somwhere that the icon light was always lit but could not be seen with the non-fog light optioned blanked out switch plate.

Thanks,

Kevin

Yes it can be seen, and that car can be reprogrammed to have functional rear fogs. I know because i have a 2008 MCS and I retrofitted the factory rear fogs.

I have read numerous threads about whether the reprograming would work, everything seemed to sum up that it would not work.

Please tell me how you accomplished the reprogramming, I thought any attemps were are all but dead.

Thanks,

Kevin

Some have done it successfully: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-retrofit.html

Others said their dealer couldn't do the reprogramming. I'm inclined to think that in those cases the dealer never did it before and didn't know how. It's been reprogrammed successfully by people on their own using NCS Expert.

Certain year vehicles can not be done because of lack of wiring but that it limited to 2010 and later. ALL 2008 have the wiring and can be reprogrammed. it is just up to the dealer if they want to do it or not.

You would think that be the case but when you search the topic most if not all the 2008's come up a bust on the programming effort. Any new information on the subject seems to have died late 2010 on this forum.

If anybody knows anything new on the subject I'm very much interested.

Thanks,

Kevin

Search better. As has been stated numerous times, 2008 can have the rear fogs fully retrofitted.

I've read for hours on this topic, although there were some successes these all came by exhaustive efforts by way of persistent owners and willing dealers. It was never really made clear by what I have read to know exactly what the dealer's process/protocol/procedure took place.

I installed the rear fog lights on my 2010 MCS with the JCW Aero Kit install last week. I can confirm that the cable connections for the rear fogs was taped to the rear bumper assembly. I went to the dealer today and first they told me it would be $200 to reprogram, within 20 minutes they informed me they couldn't do the "retrofit"...:(
