Got a nail in my RFT 2012 Cooper

Will the dealer replace the tire under warranty? I have no tpms lights on or anything. I would like to get it fixed though. Thanks!

if it is a nail it is definitely not covered under warranty.

Some places will plug them but many will not as it is not recommended by most manufacturers.

How many miles on the tire?

and with 12k on the tires I would suggest replacing a pair (both front or both rears)

A plug kit is a lot cheaper than 2 new tires.

Or just go with 4 brand new Dunlop Star Specs

Some RFTs can be repaired, depending on location of the nail, but the concern most dealers/tire shops have are damage to the sidewalls due to driving on a flat. This is why some places wont even bother to fix, and instead insist on a replacement.

So if the nail is in middle of the tread and you didn't drive on it with low air, a tire shop like DiscountTire will probably fix it. Of course the best way to fix it is usually and inside patch which means taking the tire off, but as said above still better than two new tires.

I am embarrassed to say that I've had at least 3 or 4 nails in my RFT and I have patched every single one. I have yet to have a problem with any of the tires but it's my understanding that it may be unsafe at high speeds.

Dealers or chain tire repair shops will not patch or plug these so if you're hell bent on a repair, you'll need to find a smaller tire shop.

Thanks for the help guys, looks like i'll find a new pair of tires. I would patch it but I drive a lot so I feel that might not be safe. Anyone got some tires for sale?

If you are like me and have the MINI Road hazard protection then you get a new tire when you get a nail.
