Canadian gas

Hey folks,
I have a 07 MCS and wonder what fuel is best from our not so great selection in Western Canada? I've been using shell V-power (91 octane), I've seen a few E-10 92 and 94 octane fuels at Husky stations but I'm almost sure that a Shell product would be of higher quality. Any thoughts? What are you people using?

I am using Shell V-Power with 91 Octane as well. I have been told before by someone that BMW engines runs best on gas with absolutely no ethanol and Shell is the only one that has it. I have tried using Sunoco/Petro Ultra 94 before but still find that the engine runs better with Shell. Hope that helps.

I, too, am using Shell V-Power, and so far, so good; the zero ethanol being the primary reason.

Granted, I've only got about 2,500km on my N18 engine, but I've run Shell V-Power in my old Cobalt SS for six years, all without any fuel issue whatsoever.

Chevron 94 octane is the only Canadian gas without Ethanol as far as I understand.

Edit: My bad, last time I checked pure-gas.org Shell wasn't listed, but it seems to be now. Maybe I'll save a few bucks and try the 91 V-Power

In a lot of U.S. states and in Europe higher octanes are readily available, I cant help but wonder if the Canadian cars are tuned for 91 octane? I'm pretty sure the owners manual suggests 93 or 94 ?
Years ago I had a RX-7 turbo and back then shell offered 93 or 94 octane and it made a difference in throttle response and (at least in my head) seemed to have a little more power. I've read in Euro forums that they take octane really seriously in the mini, often paying a huge price for 99 (euro rated which = 94 or 95 here)
Having said all that the v-power isn't at all terrible in terms of quality.

On a side note, it has just now come to my attention higher octane fuel can increase the pop and burble sound effects, which i never get and desperately want............

I am in Canada and my owner's manual recommends 91 octane. I use Shell V-Power as it is 91 and has no ethanol. I think it is the only gas without where I am.

I use V-Power, and it pops and burbles quite a lot - it makes me laugh each time. It does have to be in Sport mode, of course, and the exhaust has to be nice and warm - a cold exhaust doesn't pop at all.
