Question Folding up your drivers side mirror.

Okay I checked out my owners manual and it seemed to say that you just twisted the **** on the door past the adjustment mark and the mirror would fold up and in to protect your mirrors on busy streets. I tried it - nada.

I feel dumb asking - but what am I doing wrong. DH seemed to think you did this manually - like force. I wasn't down for that so tell me how do you do this?

Not to sound like a smart Alec, but do you know if you have the power fold mirror option?

Beauxgoris' sig says "heated seats" which should imply "cold weather package", which in return should imply fold-able mirrors!!?? Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Spinning the *** as far as it will go, one way or the other, folds min in.

Spinning no, rotating in either direction until it stops will make the mirrors rotate inward or outward depending on start position.

Nope these are all valid questions - I'm going to say no to this one. Does this mean my mirrors won't fold then. I mean I can adjust them electronically from inside - but that's about it. I didn't know "power fold" was an option.....

So I have heated seats - but no heated mirrors (I know I know, I was over my max at that point though and couldn't go the extra $). So does this mean they won't fold up?

I thought that CM's without the electric folding mirror option still had mirrors that can be folded manually. The mirrors on my MCS can be folded manually.

Ditto on the manual fold feature if lacking electric folding option. BTW Beauxgoris, we have very similar CMS's color and interior wise. Mine has all the options and you are correct, they can get very pricey.

Plus I don't think power fold mirrors were put out there as a big option. The only way to get it was through the cold weather package, and for most they thought that just meant heated seats and mirrors.

So when you all fold yours up manually do you just rotate them? Is there a release button or anything or is it just a force twist move?

Cobra-racer - I went in just thinking I'd buy a regular Countryman - but ended up having to have the S, plus heated seats and bench seat for my dog, etc. It was either even more options with less power or more power with less options. I'm glad I was able to get the things I got - very happy with the car in general, but I think I said no to the heated mirrors and armrest since that was another $500.00 on top (I mean really shouldn't an arm rest be "standard"). It's such a great car though (and so much fun to drive) so it's not a huge deal. I've seen a few other countryman where I live (coffee, white and red colors) but no other silvers yet. I'm surprised as I think it looks so nice on the car.

Are you stationary when folding them? I think I remember I was unable to fold them while in motion, but they work fine when parked.

So I get the mentally challenged badge of the week. I don't have the auto mirror - but you all are right, I can just fold them up. No biggie. I was just worried that since I didn't opt for the extra $250. heated and adjustable mirrors that they wouldn't move at all - and since they were a bit tight at first I didn't want to force them. It's all good though - manual fold doesn't bug me.

Thanks all!

I also swing them around so that the mirror faces the ground after washing so the water drains out and doesn't blow out and water spot the side of the car after drying

That's a great tip Jimbo! I'll be doing that from now on. Thanks!

I gave Botero a bath today and did this afterwards per your suggestion. Thanks!

That's a option and not a standard? I have a
Clubman S and haven't figured out how to fold them
Either

Based on our 2012 and 2013 CM's, if you have the power folding mirrors I would expect to find the control on the door along with the control to adjust the mirror glass. If it was an option on your car, I would think it would be shown in your owner's manual with the notation "if so equipped".

heated seats are/were available as a stand-alone option

it is possible to have heated seats and not have powerfold mirrors

I'm not sure about op's location.. in Canada our cold weather package was heated nozzle jets and heated seats - no folding mirrors available with or without packages. That being said, they do manually fold if you push on them.

I will have heated power fold mirriors (Premium PKG1) and no heated seats on mine, when it gets built. My better half thought heated seats were a little bit over kill in Mississipi.

I had a Countryman loaner the other day and I believe that there were two smaller buttons near the main **** for adjusting the mirror angle.
One for switching between left and right sides and one that folds them in.

Nope. It's the same for all models. The main "****" or joystick is used to change the mirror setting. Rotating it left or right selects the mirror to move. If you continue to rotate it beyond the point where you select a mirror, the mirrors will fold in (or out) if you have the power fold option. The other easy way to tell is that on the bezel surrounding the mirror control, there is a little symbol of a mirror. If you have the power fold option, there will be an arrow under the little symbol. Without power fold, the arrow is not there.

On the 2013 refresh models there is a button. They no longer have the dual purpose mirror adjustment/ fold ****. I believe that is what Bob4 had in his loaner.

Makes sense. My mirrors slowly get out of whack after folding them in/out every day and then have to be repositioned. A separate button is what I've always wanted.
