hey all,

i was looking at some JCW cars from pics on motoringfile.com and i was wondering how they get the chrome grill on the aero kit, i was told this isnt possible so i have half chrome/half aero grill

see this pic to understand what i am talking about:

Yes it's possible it has to be custom done but it's possibly.

you have to create a foundation in the aero kit grille area, because the "speed" grille is thicker then the standard grill. Once you have a foundation, you can adhesive it to the foundation... and all done.

Actually, there's a part you can buy from a MINI dealership so you can fit the new chrome S grill to the Aero kit. The part is called the Cooper S Grill Bracket Base Plate (sorry, dunno part #). It runs $38 at Classic MINI (that's the 20% off price). That's how it's done.

that's lame it's an easy swap... everything that you could customize is not a dealer option.

We had ours done last novemer 11/02 at the time nobody else had done this switch, so we had to have it custom made

For those curious, You may notice that this MCS has the exterior chromeline option which explains why his front grills are chrome and not body colored at the fins.
