Resonator Delete on 2010 R56 NON S

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with doing a resonator delete on a r56 NON S. Im not looking for any horsepower increase, more sound would be nice though. Does anyone have any experience with this or horror stories I should be aware of?

this was the first "mod" i had performed on my 2011 Cooper. It did exactly what you are asking for: a louder, raspier, sportier exhaust note but no perceptable gains in acceleration or throttle response.
I would advise you that in conjunction with a cold air intake such as the ddm works unit i just recently installed, the sound can be pretty "boy-racer",head-turningly loud under hard acceleration.
If you're thinking of eventually doing a CAI, I'd recommend holding off on the resonator delete at least until you hear the change that the intake makes first and then decide if you need a bit more sonic growl & volume.
In my instance and to my tastes, the combination is just about perfect but I'd be very reluctant to have the car sound a whole lot louder than it presently does.

ps-just now noticed that you're already running a K&N Typhoon in your sig- I'd say do it. no issues.

My experience with resonator deletes on N/A motors is that you get a tinnier sound, with slightly more sound, mostly in the upper registers.

Sean5295- Its hard to justify a 600 dollar after resonator system. Sounds like a lot for just a bit of piping and a muffler. I plan on doing a Magnaflow or Borla muffler in the long run, but looking for short term improvement in sound while saving some money. I can get pipe bent to fit the MINI later.

On the other hand I have heard your car and agree it sounds good.

Peppermill - Are you running the stock exhaust still or did you change it?

One of the B-Spec MINI Racers that I'm working with is going to start selling a Muffler By-Pass kit soon... the same one that people are using on their B-Spec MINI race cars.

According to a couple sources, it's "not too loud", but makes the exhaust much more 'racy' and aggressive sounding. I hope to have a sound clip shortly to post on my website (see sig), as I think this could be a popular mod for Coopers given the relatively low price, too.

Drakosd,

I'm on the stock exhaust atm. I'd planned to do the VIP "performance" exhaust next but am rethinking just how far I wanna go now.
I wouldn't mind just a little more blat & rattiness while cruising around and under normal/moderate acceleration but not so sure how much more volume would be okay under hard acceleration and/or if it might not get a little tiring on long drives.

Thanks for the input Peppermill. Do you have any sound files or video?
