R56 Front is lower than back. Is this normal?
Front is lower than back. Is this normal?
I have noticed that the Comet's front end sets maybe a half inch (Haven't measured it) lower than then the back. Is this normal for the 2012 Justa's?
If not will the dealer fix it?
If it is can the front be raised so it level? If it can would it hurt anything?
See in Denver area we have a lot of dips designed by really big dips. Some are really deep. Well the snow and ice make them even deeper. So on Monday I high centered Comet going into one of the dips. He just was setting on the ice and the front tires were just touching and couldn't grip the ice under them. I was stuck.
I could get out of the car in drive or reverse (Auto yes) and watch the tires slowly spin.
I tried to push it, but it wouldn't move. Even another guy and I couldn't move it at all. So it had to be pulled off the ice. I was driving really slow so I don't think it was wounded. Couldn't see anything just looking under and no leaks under the car.
I would like to avoid this in the future so I thought if maybe the front was raised a little (To match the back) it might help.
Any thoughts? I mean besides learning to drive.
Thanks.

On a flat road it will go through 10+ inches on snow. But the stupid dips get iced up and then deeper.
IMO you will just have to get used to the MINI not being able to handle deep snow even with snow tires. The front air dam (and the hidden lower air dam below) act as a plow and really slow you down and of course you lack all-wheel drive.
I would consider 10 inches of snow to be pushing it in a MINI. With my old Ford Focus and aggressive snow tires, I could manage 12 inches of unpaved roads for short durations. Any more and I was toast - and the Focus had more ground clearance.

Definitely agree with Walk0080....You don't want to lower at all. I'd just get to know it better and it's limitations.
Try and avoid the big dips if possible.
It doesn't snow here but where my wife works, the drive going in and out is really steep and there's a big dip at road edge and drive. If I don't hit that slow and just right, I'll scrap my air dam everytime.
Finally got smart and started using the back entrance.

Living in the frozen north a while back I bought a 4wd SUV and owned it for 5 years ... never seeing over 1.5 inches of snow. I was so excited when I DID see that snow I drove all around in 4wd.
So I sold that vehicle and bought a Miata . . . still living in the same place the first winter I drove that Miata to work in 8 inches of fresh unplowed snow. In the future, while I owned that car, when it snowed I called in sick.

I just got Comet. I will get used to it. I never owned anything this low before. A half inch higher in the front would help.
