Boy, this takes me back a bit!

What were the originals from the 1275S days? Panasports, Mini-lites, Mini-lite Panasports or Panasport Mini-Lites. I remember that if you didn't have wires on your British sportscar, these were the ones to have!

Isn't one of the modern ones also a Roda RB or something?

With the power that cars are starting to push out I wouldn't run wire just for fear of stripping the wires out.

And are you talking about these Rota wheels?

No, these.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rb-silver.html

edit: Boy was I off on my history. The original Minilites were actually real magnesium race wheels. The Panasports were an almost identical design but aluminum... and MUCH cheaper both then and now. However, Minilite now offers an alloy wheel alternative at a better price point than their magnesium but fitment is far more limited than all the competing wheels of this style offered today. Overall though, it's the Minilite/Panasport design that typifies the classic Mini Cooper 1275S look.

Ok that is about the same as the ones above. The Watanabe wheels are baller status right there. So if you can get Konig or Rota for a lot cheaper with tthe same style.

love the look of the Konigs or any wheel that has a Panasport/Minilite look! Easier to clean, too!

I always wanted the old style wire wheels. I looked at a tire place and they don't carry them. I have Justa so do you think wire wheels would be ok for it?

There is one that I saw on NAM here that had true wire wheels I just don't remember the brand. I don't know if I would run true wire wheels with any kind of power. I would be afriad of tearing the spokes out of the wheelss.

I was afraid that might be the case since I can't find them anywhere but that one site.

Not a huge deal since I do like the wheels I have. Just like wire wheels beeter. Thanks Porthos.

Here are a couple of the threads:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...you-think.html

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-for-mini.html

BTW, it looks like Dayton offers direct-bolt 15" wire wheels, but only (?) in a 5-lug setup.

BBS or Rotiforms. The Rotiforms may not be the "classic" you're looking for.

Wow the Borrani price is wild.

I am not sure the pics I saw in the posts (Thanks by the way) looked that good. I mean the wheels on the cars, not the quality of the pictures.

I will stick with my current wheels. Thanks everyone.

Rolling on Daytons!!!

I really like the Mini-Lites and Panasport wheels they are the originals that MINI copied their S-Lites from and all the other Chinese Knock-Off companies posted here did as well.

Daytons Wire Wheels will make them in any size you need.

Damn!

Random memory - I once bought an MGB at night. Don't EVER do that.

The next morning I went to remove the wheels to check the brakes, and one of the rims came off leaving the hub and half the spokes still attached to the car. I drove over 60 mph bringing it home too - and noted that it apparently had a little balance issue...

These wheels look much shinier than the ones on the B though...

Cheers,

Charlie

Those Daytons look incredible, you don't see that on a MINI every day!
