I really want to get something like this but was hoping someone in the States makes this or something like it. A 21-28 day special order + conversion rate and shipping makes it a bit spendy..

Can't one of these carbon fiber part makers in the US do this. Maybe I should talk to the M7 people... I am sure they could make a few bucks on this.

No kidding; give me a few basic measurements, an hour or so in the shop, and I can easily turn out that Challenge scoop cooling vent...

Well I don't have a shop or measurements but if you did make one that looked nice I am sure I would buy it!

Doesn't sound like you've chatted with a local sheet metal fabricator in your area?
You'd be amazed how quickly that scoop can be produce with a simple build-to-print fabrication drawing.

Eh, well I don't know where a sheet metal fabricator would be here... I am new to the area, but then again I never looked for one here or where I lived before.

Also a "simple build-to-print fabrication drawing" isn't something I handle on a day to day basis. I guess I will google search and see how that is done.

Or like the other guy said "Can you make me one Erik?" I am not a college kid, but I would be just as thankful!

For the time, engineering, and materials, I cannot just 'hand it over'...
There would need to be some amount of compensation for it.
But do realize I'm not about to go into the market for such items.

PM sent.

I found this on another forum on how it is mounted: "held in place with screw and spring clips in existing holes under bonnet scoop."

Correct; however cannot locate the exact spring clip part number.
The mounting holes are oval slots on either side from centerline; on my 2009, they are empty ready for an insert.

I ordered my through them. It didn't take that long to get over here. You just need to make sure that they don't charge you VAT since it is going overseas.

I've got a bonnet vent scoop up-for-grabs in the market place now for a third less than the OEM MINI Challenge from the UK.

Why not buy the factory metal hood scoop heat shield then cut/bend it to work like this? It comes with the correct fasteners and everything for ~$30, and it should be in stock at your local dealer.

Sorry i'm bringing up a dead thread but thought anyone who was interested in making one would like dimensions for making a replica. Go to motoring alliance forum, there's a thread on their forum that has a pdf with dimensions.

Thanks for the tip. It took me awhile to navigate the site, but here is a link to that thread:

I think it is comical that NAM is so paranoid about showing the other forum site's name. Like we aren't on that site too? C'mon NAM, grow-up!
