Fog lights for Justa?

Still waiting on my Cooper and I'm wondering if they come pre~wired for fog lights. I didn't order it with them and I'm interested in installing the LED ones myself.

My 2011 S did not come pre wired for fog/driving lights, but they are not hard to install yourself. Use the search button and you will find lots of info on the install. Good luck..

Thanks!
I'm a girl who knows her way around a garage so I'm sure it'll be a quick mod once I get to it

Fog lights Justa

See link below on LED lights which were just installed by a Clubman owner. He is sending me the directions on how to remove the bumper to install these lights. I will send you two more emails on the subject since I do not know how to send more than one link at a time

Are you talking fog lights in the bumper of the driving lights in front of the grill?

Fog lights Justa

All my references are for the DRLs/fog lights that fit in the bumper. My Mini does not have the fog lights it only has the DRLs ( justa Mini) I want to replace the factory with these LED ones, which will give me the Fog light option. I think I can use the factory DRL wires to run the DRL part of the LEDs but will have to add a switch and wire to the battery the Fog lights.

Cricketine -

Are you looking for "functioning" fog lights or just the "look?" The reason I ask is as the prior poster states, the 2012 come with what I think are daylight running lights down there stock. I was going to order the fog lights mainly because I don't like the look of empty holes that many cars have if you don't, but I ended finding the exact MCa I was looking for (sans cloth sports seats) on the lot and was surprised to see lights down there. I don't remember those DRL's showing up when I did my build on the Mini site...

Living on the OR coast and a "car gal" if I am hearing you right, you probably want the real thing. Just wanted to throw that out there. Here on the SoCal coast I'm happy with the DRL's so far.

The 2012 MC comes with running lights in/on the bumper standard. They do not show up on the MINI build page. I was very pleased that Comet doesn't have holes in the bumper.

You're right, the configurator is misleading, or at least it was when we were ordering. If you don't specify fog lights, the configurator shows empty fog light openings. Truth is, though, all MINIs come with lights in the fog light holes, it's just a matter of how many: 1 DRL per hole, or a DRL and a Fog. This is for the pre-refresh R56s, in particular, but it may be the same for 2011+ as well. (Sounds like the same goes for the 2011+ based on the above posts!)

Yeap, I've got DRL's there on my 2012 10/11 production. Strangely enough though, my car has rear fog option with the switch.

Did you order it that way or get a freebie? I can't remember if you got any packages.

I didn't order it, only package is Cold Weather, Bluetooth and iPod. Car was optioned the way I would have ordered it, colour and all anyway. The rear fog is a mystery (BONUS ) I think perhaps when the dealership ordered it, they ticked rear fog by mistake.

Do all '11-12s have the rear fog light (as opposed to the black plastic fillers that the pre-11 cars got) and the option just adds the switch that makes it functional?

Someone posted a thread on this, but it was for a pre-LCI. Supposedly the wiring is there and there is even a bulb in the socket. To make it work, I believe you have to buy the switch, switch cover and get the footwell module programmed at the dealer.

Yup, foggy on the coast more often than not! Functioning fog lights would come in handy.

I think what you are calling DRL's (Daytime Running lights) are really parking lights like all cars have. On MINI it's the top half of the fixture. The fog-light option uses the bottom half of the same fixture. The purpose of the parking lights are to drive in a parking garage and not blind the attendant. If you are in the military you know this feature well when going through the entrance checkpoint of a base at night.
Also they are there to allow oncoming traffic to distinguish the center-line of the car if one of the headlights are out.

DRL is different. On MINI it is a programmed function you can enable and disable via the stalk on the tach display.
For MINI the DLR's turn on the headlights to full power AND all the other lights on as well.... tail, license & markers. On other makes of cars, DRL's turn on just the headlights at partial brightness.

FWIW you can install oem fog lights without removing the bumper. If you remove the fog light from its mounting bracket you can insert both pieces into the cavity below the headlight and reassemble them once they're in place. On the right side you can insert the light reflector thru the access hole in the fender liner. The left side is a little trickier because the windshield washer bottle is in the way. On that side you have to partially remove the fender liner and washer bottle to squeeze the reflector into the cavity. It took me about 15min (after I removed the headlights and grill) to install the right light and about 45min for the left. An offset torx screwdriver will be very handy for mounting the lights behind the bumper.
