New build have questions

Ok in the next month I am going to be building my new MCS. There are a few questions I have about some of the options. I am looking at the a MCS with either the sports package or the John cooper works package. What's the difference between the two packages? And anyone with the roof rack when you take the rack off does it do anything to the car? Could any explain how the roof rack goes in and off. I would truly appreciate any help.

IF you can afford it get the JCW car.

The roof rack can be removed entirely, we sell a lot of them.

Ok, sport package includes DTC (traction control), white turn signals, bi-xenon lights, stripes, and 17" wheels. (for me the only must have are the Bi-xenon lights, with the DTC a close second.) I also prefer the other boot and bonnet stripes, but that's just me.

It was the same when I ordered mine, and I got the package. I like the white signals, but it's not a deal killer. I had the stripes changed after I got the car.

The JCW body package is a body kit. Bumper covers, and side skirts.

The JCW tuning kit is an air filter, exhaust muffler and tips, and tuning. You can get more performance for less $ with the aftermarket, but the JCW kit is covered by the MINI warranty and aftermarket will likely void parts of your new car warranty... (depends on how much of ***** your dealer, or MINI, is about warranty issues.)

as a silly aside, I was just playing around, and built a new JCW up...lol With what I picked, (all the packages, and NAV), and the new Sports seats, it was $43000...lol And that's with no CF bits, no leather, or crazy wheels.

Anyway, when I actually ordered my car, it came to a hair over $28K (all packages, cloth seats, with color line, anthracite headliner, piano black trim, no nav), with the only things I didn't get, (and now really regret), were the LSD, and rear fog lights. I should have just spent the $600 then... Installing a LSD is going to cost me about $2200 now... (but it will be a MUCH better part than what the factory would have installed...)

Thanks Richard, that's the way I have been leaning. I had questions after I went to the dealer this past weekend. They had sitting a new MCS with the jcw package on. It looked awesome. He told me that package was the only one that came with the dtc. When I got home I did my research and noticed he was incorrect or I was miss reading something.

I personal want the sports package because the xenon head light, dtc and the bonnet stripes. After playing with the online builder the spice orange color will not come with the jwc option. So thanks for the info and I really can't wait to order my new car.

I got a MINI with the sports package JUST for the headlights, they're fantastic. They also have a cool look to them.

If you have the money though I'd go for the JCW package. It really makes the MINI a beast. That said, I wouldn't do it unless you actually have the money in hand. I'm financing my car so I just couldn't accept having to pay that much money JUST for a little added visual flare and a modest performance upgrade. In my opinion, if you are financing, I would get the Mini S, with the packages you want, and then wait until after you pay off the car, and the warranty ends, and then modify it to your liking. The aftermarket parts of the Mini are just as high quality as the JCW parts.

They don't have one any more. Now they have an "electronic" version, which actually applies the brakes to a slipping drive wheel rather than mechanically distributing the torque between the drive wheels.
