Electrical Issue on an aux install
Issue on an aux install
yesterday i wired up an aux cable for my MCS (03 w/ tape player) using the cable from my stock 6 disk cd changer (I cut it out of the harness from behind the hu) after i followed this DIY https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...x-install.html to the T but it doesnt work!!!! Ive tried switiching which wire goes where and plugging it into the cd player but to no avail. is it possible that the tape player head unit isnt compatible with and aux??
thanks!
thanks!
from OutMotoring.com listing for the factory aux input:
IMPORTANT** This does not work with any 02 MINI's that have the factory radio installed, sorry! ALSO, does NOT work on any year Gen 1 MINI with the stock Cassette deck OR the 6 CD changer installed (if you unplug the CD changer it will work though)!!

I have a 2004 MCS which had a radio with a CD player. The auxiliary input did not work with my radio. In the process of trying to get it to work the connection to the antenna crumbled so I installed an aftermarket head unit which has an auxiliary audio input and a usb port. Works great, but a little more expensive (and frustrating) than installing an auxiliary cable.
