I'm officially an owner!!!

Picked up a super clean 2009 S with 28k miles, and a bunch of JCW Kit stuff dealer installed. It's Charcoal gray, with a grey roof, grey mirrors. I'm trying to figure out what options, exactly, it has. It looks like the PO ordered it with a minimum of 'goodies,' but spent his dough on the JCW stuff.

Thanks, everyone! I think this is going to be a great car for me.

It is SO much fun...

So, I have questions - which I should probably post in another thread. But, since the car I got doesn't have a few features I would've chosen if I'd ordered the car, I'm wondering whether it's possible (or feasible) to consider adding them. For example, my car came with a base sound system. I see the upgrade available in the MINI catalog - but it seems expensive, and the description isn't great. Also, what about adding satellite radio? $600 seems like a lot when I could get a handheld SR, and use it as an Aux input.

I can't speak on the upgrade of the stereo to the HK but I have looked casually into the Sirius retrofit, I would love it if I could add it! Overall it seems to be a few hundred for the radio itself and there's a kit and everything. The satellite wires are already run so all you have to do is plug it in under the passenger seat, but then it won't do anything until you reprogram it. So realistically with the parts, labor, and reprogramming $600 doesn't seem too unrealistic especially for the dealer. I'm pretty certain you can code it yourself using NCS Expert if you are comfortable with those sorts of things, but everyone has a different comfort level. I've debated finding a junk yard to grab a radio from but I don't know how that would work with Sirius since I'd assume it would have already been activated on an account?

Good luck! I've looked around at a few things to retrofit but mostly I'd just come to the conclusion that it is very expensive to do and probably not worth the money.

FWIW, I was not impressed with the HK system in my '05 R53. You can get much better sound for your money in the aftermarket.

Thanks. Good to know. I'm just wondering how diffiicult (expensive) it is to upgrade a MINI's sound system because it's integral in the dash.

Congrats. If it were me, I would go totally aftermarket to fill all that I want in a sound system. You may come out better than what MINI offer. That's my $0.02...

For great sound that was custom designed for the MINI, check out Integral Audio. I’ve been up to Kevin’s shop (strictly R&D) dozens of times now and spent hours with him as he used my car for some of the design work on the R56. The sub in my boot is cleanly built with plenty of bass. And the Sound Stage, which is due to be released shortly surpasses the HK system by MILES. Hundreds of miles, actually.

If you’re interested, READ THIS - my experience with IA. It is long, but I really wanted fellow MINIACS to know just what my experience was and what Kevin is all about. And for the money, the entire system is a bargain.

A sales guy at the dealership can pull up everything on your car, just give him the VIN #. They'll also print out the copy for you. The SA can also print out all work done on the car. My sales guy and SA did it for me and didn't charge me anything.
It's nice to know what all it has and what has been done to it.

Congrats and welcome!

Maybe I'll be seeing you around. I see you're in Sherman Oaks. I live in Simi Valley, work in Encino and visit family in Burbank...looks like I have you surrounded!
