Thumbs up Getting rid of run flats=New Car Feeling Again!

Just put on new Conti Extreme DWS non-RFs. The car is quieter and is probably about 50% smoother over potholes/bumps. What a difference.

An earlier post mentions positive changes in the '12 model vs. the '11, and whether true or not, my '11 with the 18" wheels, run-flats, and sport suspension DEFINITELY "crashes" over seemingly mild road hazards. Compliance was basically non-existent and unrefined. It's much better now, luckily. I hope mini continues to improve the suspension, but now the car is far more enjoyable.

Thanks for the post. I have a '12 and I can't wait to get rid of the run-flats.

I'm happy with my choice : 17'' wheels, run-flat and NO sport suspension. The car is a bit high.. and perfect when sport driving, but also with potholes and bumps... Yes, the 18'' looks nicer... but.. my last car has a very big wheels with very thin tires...

The ship carrying my MCS docks on Friday and the non-RF's are already waiting for it in the garage. I had one set oif RF's on the 335 I just sold and that one set was enough to last me a lifetime.

A hurdle encountered when you lease a Countryman equipped with run flats is that the car MUST be returned to the dealer at lease end with run flats on. No exceptions according to my MA. So, you must store the run flats and put them back on at the end of the lease.

Thanks. Just called the tire guy who still has my tires. I'll pick them up and store them, although I can't imagine MINI having an issue about it. I find that upon returning leased vehicles the inspection company is more concerned about larger cosmetic issues with the vehicle.

I had the dealer swap out the runflats on our CM before I even picked it up from the dealer. We have Michelin Pilot sport A/S plus and they have been awesome.

Yes I ordered my non-RF on Black Friday too. As soon as my CM arrived I will swap the RF out for the snow season

Long term reviewer in latest Top Gear magazine despises run flat tires.
Will change to non-RF for the last couple of months before returning the car.
I got rid of them 10 months into my JCW ownership, completely different car.
