Ambient Lighting picture/video request

Hey everybody, first post for me, as I am hoping to get a 2012 CM4 next year. Been enjoying my time here!

Anyway, I have been looking and looking, I can't seem to find good pictures or video of the ambient lighting. I have seen one really bad video of the lighting and one really good picture of the lighting set to red.

Could you LUCKY owners out there post pics/vids of the different colors (maybe including a video of the colors cycling automatically)? It would be great to see more of, it's one of MANY features I am really excited about. Thanks!!

Hi Preme

Hold the button down until it double blinks.. about 10 seconds, then the colors will cycle.

You have to hold the switch through one full color cycle, at which point the lights will flash a couple times and continue to change color.

I've been meaning to take pictures of mine at night, so maybe I'll give it a shot tomorrow night.

Chav lighting... one of the funky items of the MINI.

I like how the revised cars (2011+?) have more colours than my last MINI - not to mention independent brightness control. I am sticking with red for now to match my Chili red interior.

I tried to take a video of my interior, but my cheapo point and shoot camera wouldn't pick up anything useful. Sorry :/

I think this ambient lighting is very cool. I've been surprised that so few people even talk about it on here. It's certainly one of the things that make MINI's unique.

Is. The ambient lighting on all the time your headlights are on at night and while driving? Or is it just when the dome light is on or doors are open?

Try this web site. It has some good pictures of the ambient lighting.

it is a definite cool feature...worth bragging about. I think the color scheme goes something like; two shades of orange, two shades red, three shades blue, two shades green, one shade purple...then back to orange. then for each there are three 'brightness' settings. the cycling is very cool as well....especially with the full center rail. I have either the mid-blue setting (goes w/ surf blue) or the red (I'm a sucker for making my cockpit seem like an F-16). very cool though.

awesome! thats something else I was wondering, thanks for the info. I'm sure I'd go with blue most of the time, now if only I could decide between surf blue and true blue... yet to see either in person though.

Brightness setting you say? The ambient lighting is lovely, but very bright for me, so i'd be interested to tone it down a touch.

It's red for me - it matches the dash lighting the best.

Push switch toward windshield to change color. Pull back on switch toward cabin to change brightness. Or the the other way around. Can't remember. If you hold the switch in the direction that changes color for more than 10 seconds ( you'll see the lights blink briefly when done correctly), the colors continuously cycle through.

This is one of the features I'm really excited about once we get our mini. I've never even heard of something like this before.

One of the often overlooked features of the newer MINIs. I like it, adds a fun factor at night for passengers.

It looks better with a white interior. I have black leatherette and I can barely see it unless it's really dark. From what I've found, you have to have the engine running to see it, so just putting your key in doesn't light the ambient lights.
