A coupla newb questions on Daytime Running Lights...

Sorry for some basic questions, but I'm new to MC...

Do the DRL's run at diminished power or the same as headlamps on?

If DRL's are enabled, is there any way to turn off your lights when the engine is running? On my VW's for example, DRL's stay on (at lower power) until the parking brake is put on (so it's possible to sit in a running car with the lights off).

If the Mini DRL's run at full power and can't ever be shut off, I think I'll just disable them and manually control the lights.

Thanks much.

MINI's version of DRL is all lights on full power tail lights everything.

With DRL set on, all the lights are on when the ignition is switched on... engine running or not.

I like 'em on, even at full power. Anything to help others see me on the road to help avoid accidents

I agree with you, but if there's no difference between turning the lights on and the DRL's, I'll just control them manually. I like to think of myself as an "engaged" driver, so I don't mind turning on lights and controlling wipers myself.

Welcome to NAM, btw! Visibility is key, especially when driving tiny cars, so I second the always-keeping-your-lights-on ideal. Good luck!

Another vote for DRLs. Mine are only on when the engine is running, And the only thing different between DRLs and lights "on" is that the interior/dashboard lights are on.
