Center Rail - Two part or single?

Just wanted to find out how everyone feels about the center rail.
If you've got a CM or you've ordered one, did you go with the single rail or the two-part center rail?
Have you gotten any cool accessories? Come up with your own? Thanks!

2 part for me. The one part is more practical, but looks ridiculous in the back, like they forgot the cut the damn thing. Either way, the design is atrocious and the accessories are useless. Needs a complete change for next model year.

Ordered 2 part, no regrets. I think I can count on one hand the amount of times we have had a passenger in the back.

I just haven't decided yet. The single seems like it would be fun, but if I get the arm rest, I'm not going to be able to pass anything between my passengers and I anyway.

I got the split rail as opposed to the full rail. Either one is pretty useless. It was a good idea, but was executed poorly and MINI doesn't seem to be interested in developing it any further.

I'd go with the split rail if you might want to lay something down across the floor in front of the backseats. I'd go with the full rail if you don't care about that because the interior disco lights are cooler with a full rail.

I'm also thinking that the split rail would give any passengers more leg room as well?

My mind has changed on so many of the options. My husband just keeps laughing at me, because I keep changing my configurations. But I am trying to find out as much information as I can so I can walk into the dealership knowing exactly what I want, with no doubts.

I'm really appreciating everyone's input.

I started out wanting the two part rails because I thought I might need to put something behind the seats and that would prevent that from happening but after I saw the one piece rail at night, I decided to go with it. To me, The lighting on the one piece rail is just too cool and i get a lot of compliments on it from people.

I am going with the two part, so when passengers (ie kids) get in the back they can enter from the sidewalk side and move over. School pickup kids are only supposed to enter from one side.

2 part. We felt the one piece too constricting. Can't see the mood lighting back there at night anyway. Too busy looking forward.

I'm with Bmtespar. Saw the single rail at night and thought it was fun (especially when the colors cycle) so I got the single rail.

I have the sunglass holder on the front half of the rail and use one of the supplied plastic dividers to make a compartment for my phone.

On the back half of the rail I have the two cup holders and the ipod cradle. I keep the change cup (ash tray) in one of the cup holders and sometimes use the other cup holder if the front cup holder doesn't fit my drink. I also attached one of the supplied plastic hook accessories on the side of the rail to hang a small trash bag.

I don't have many back seat passengers, but if you're regularly carrying passengers, then two rails may be better for you.

I went with the full standard rail because it was one of the many features of the Countryman concept that I found interesting. However, while the rail is well made & robust, the MINI rail accessories included with the vehicle, IMHO, are just about useless. I came up with a couple of mods that redeem my decision.

I have the one piece unit and I have no idea why. No one seems to have noted, yet . . . if you have the extra connection controls that are in the shift console and the armrest and the standard handbrake - the front rail is useless. I have the sunglass holder under the arm rest with mints in it - you can open it just enough to get them out on the passenger side.

Sealy - Who thinks the brake handle designer and the rail designer are twisted misanthropes who probably live together in sin.

I was going to do the split rail until I figured out I could get the rear bench seat. Don't plan on anyone sitting back there anyway other than the dogs.

We went with the split rail. Made more sense with two boys (14 and 10).

Plus, the accessories that come with both options are terrible though. The cell phone holder blew apart on day 2 of ownership.

I find myself using the full-width space behind the front seats all the time, something I expected to do from previous car usage. An example would be where to put the boot cover when carrying something big.

I don't miss the one-piece rail.

Two piece: didn't want my dogs to catch a foot in the rail when getting in or out of the car. I may put a cover over the back portion to keep out some of the dog hair.

I know there's a cover you can get for the entire back seating area specifically for dogs.
It's minimotoringaccessories.com and it's a protective rear cover; should be easy to find.
There's also a bootspace cover.

Sealy, it does look as if there wouldn't be room for anything else with an arm rest, handbrake, and the mini connected controls.
So I don't know, I may opt out on the arm rest all together and get the single rail with an arm rest for the back passengers if available.

I would suggest getting the front arm rest. It provides comfort and extra storage capacity.

Went with the one piece, because that is the only way you can add the rear armrest, and not having an armrest is just irritating.

Dog legs getting caught in the rail is why I opted to wait for the bench seat. I have whippets so I did not want any risk of those skinny limbs snapping in that rail contraption.

I like the front armrest - works great for me and I use the storage. My spouse, however, doesn't like it and flips it back when she's driving.

Have the 2 piece with front armrest and have no issues with the sunglass holder whatsoever....I actually like the e-brake design....to each his own, BUT in hindsight, i would have ordered the full rail versus the way i ordered mine(2 piece). It makes the CM that much more uniques. I will be ordering the Paceman late next year with the full rail...

Two piece for us. Thought that if we had rear passengers and they couldn't get out on one side and needed to get out on the other it would be difficult especially for someone wearing either a skirt/dress or kilt for that matter.
