Just got an R57s... Is this normal?

Hello Guys... First post here, good to see such a nice mini community....

Well I just got a used 2010 R57 Mini Cooper S with 5k on the clock... and noticed the following...

A) Fuel Pump is too noisy.... I can barely hear it inside the car but outside its a bit noticeable... It sound electric... no failures or problems to start the engine at the moment.

B) Whirring/Vibrating sound when turning the AC on for a few seconds...

C) Auto Headlights stay on all the time... Seems like the sensor is not working (And I do have the Auto Headlights stalk switch) does it needs to be reprogrammed in order for it to work? I changed the battery when I took delivery because the car was dead...

D) Noisy Ride with the top-up... seems to be the top mechanism seals that touch the window... is there any way to make the top less noisy??

E) The car pulls from one side to the other (torque steer) on Wide Open Throttle... seems too unstable....

Well thats about it for the moment... I will appreciate any feedback!!

Thanks in Advance!
Y

For C and E that's normal. With day lights you have always the headlights on. Regarding the torque response in the stearing wheel, it is something "normal" for a Mini S or JCW. And it is even worst if the road is bad.

Thanks for the reply... But all the lights are on all the time with the auto function including the dials... You sure this is normal? How can I program it so that the stay fully off at daylight?

Do you have the GPS (I don't know how it works if you don't have it). If so, go to settings, if I'm not mistaken lighting, then you should have day lights. Turn it off. Keep your auto light on on the commodo.
It should turn on your lights when it's gettin darker.
I hope it's understandable.

You should be able to enter the setup by clicking on the button on the turn signal. When you get to the setting menu press the button for 5 seconds to enter the menu. You will be able to configure auto lock, and DRL. You have a logo that looks like to a headlight logo. Press again the button for 3 seconds to enter the sub menu. You will choose between yes or no.

And make sure the sensitivity on the auto headlights isn't all the way up.

I don't have Connect but I get to it through the stalk control. You'd have to read the manual to find out if yours is like that or if it's accessible through Connect.

D - there is a service bulletin on taking apart the lifting mechanism and installing felt to quiet some of it. If it's just the glass rubber interface though, you're SOL. No there is nothing you can do. Some have removed all grease with rubbing alcohol on both touching surfaces so they "stick" others lube (which is what your dealer will do if you complain about it). The lube is a silicone of some sort, it wears off in about two weeks. Really annoying.

E - welcome to FWD motoring. They had a software fix that applied to certain years and models though mine was ineligible.
