My new R53

This car will be familiar to some older NAM members, but it's new to me:

Mini Cooper S by jabella, on Flickr

2003 with the following packages: Premium, Sport, Cold Weather. Nav, Park distance alarm, etc. I think the only real option it doesn't have is the up-spec stereo, which wasn't available when it was ordered.

It's modded too:
  • Helix 19% Pulley
  • Helix short shifter
  • Helix 380cc injectors
  • RDR 19mm rear sway
  • Remus exhaust
  • Omori boost gauge
  • Whalen shift machine
  • Probably other things I'm forgetting.... definitely.

Came with stock 17's as well as a set of 15's with snow tires. Going to be a lot of fun - hoping to detail it this weekend and get some better pics.

I've never driven it any other way?

Car goes like crazy, and hits > 17 psi of boost though.

At one point it had a Magnaflow exhaust, and then the 'One-Ball', and now the Remus. Seems good, but needs to be cleaned up a bit.

Going to install a set of craven STDs tomorrow, just to be on the safe side. Updated my nav maps to 2011, and I think that's all the mods for now other than cleaning it up tomorrow....

Will it need penicillin after that?

Seriously though, really great looking R53, sounds like it's nicely modded too.

Updated Photos

Here we go, a few post detailing pics:

Installed my strut tower defenders, and did lots of detailing and cleanup today.

Came out really nice - things that didn't seem dirty were, and overall I think it all just looks a lot better. I don't think there's anything left to do at this point but drive it. Oh, and put the winter wheels + snow tires on it in a few weeks.

Very nice—Congrats!

I am impressed how many older models are in such excellent shape. I suppose it shows just how well MINI owners like keeping their cars clean (me included).
