Motor-tober $750

My Countryman was ordered before the motor-tober event, but I haven't taken delivery yet. My MA is telling me that I'm not eligible for the $750 coupon. Does anyone have a similar issue, or has anyone been able to use the $750 coupon even though they ordered their car before the event? Thanks.

Ours was ordered before and my MA made sure I was eligible before I drove out...so I'm planning on it. Said he'd order it under a different name so I didn't loose my spot in line.

My MA said he was sent a list of pre-orders by Miniusa that weren't eligibly for the discount. Are you saying your MA ordered your car under an assumed name, and will cancel that order when the car comes in to the dealer and then sell you the car under your name?

Hi Minitennisball,

I'm in the same boat you are. I asked two NAM people in PMs how they will be able to take advantage of it and one of them had worked with the MA prior to ordering the car. Another one was confident he'd get it. He said that you just have to take delivery between the event and January 3rd.

When are you expecting to take delivery?

My MA did the same thing. He put it under my dad's name, and has now changed it into my name to apply the $750. I think it really depends on the MA and the dealership whether or not they'll do it for you.

The dealer I ended up ordering my CM from initially said " No go" on the $750 rebate since I had already ordered.

When I told him that his competitor on the order side of the state said " No problem" when I considered taking my business there instead, it was then, "We can do that"

Clearly there is some dealer discretion here....

My MA said no problem. I ordered on Oct 1, but I still don't have a production number as their first allocation of bench seat were full. Maybe that has something to do with it, but now I'm worried the car won't get here before Jan 3.

wait let me get this STRAIGHT, i had order my CM, about 2 weeks ago, i take it it won't be delivered to me at least until next month or so, if i go to this thing on the 22nd, i could get 750 off from the price, how is this working for everyone here with their dealerships, are you getting help or just telling you it's too late? if this is a rebate straight from the factory this should not affect their profit at all.

My daughter had ordered a Justa Cooper and talked with her dealership before going to the Motor-Tober event. The dealership said that, if they got the certificate they would honor it even though the car is on order. Same time window restriction.

I was going to take delivery on Saturday 10/22 (the day my dealer is having the event), and participate in the event before I took delivery so I could get the coupon. But the dealer said Miniusa wouldn't let them work it this way, that you had to have the coupon before the order was placed. I probably should've let someone else handle this negotiation for me since I'm not the arguing type...

check out the thread in the 'coupe' forum. Last post states you must take delivery of the vehicle after the event and before Jan 3rd. So, go for the event, get the certificate and then get delivery with the 750 off!

see what your rights to cancel are....if you can get your deposit back, then tell them to either give you $750 or you want your deposit back. the dealer can take $750 of msrp (assuming you paid msrp) in lieu of the coupon. be firm and good luck.

what if you already had a discount off from the MSRP, my dealer already had a $1000 taken off the sticker price, do you think i could still get the 750 rebate?

I ordered mine on October 5th and they said it wasn't supposed to apply to custom builds but they're giving it to me anyway. Whether that's BS or not I don't care as long as I get it. I just have to stop by the dealership on the 29th and get the slip.

That's the whole idea - you make the best deal you can, then you pull out the certificate and take off the $750 from that point.

here is the information regarding the 750, notice that it says to see your motoring advisor for details...

The six words shown above describe our version of THE BEST TEST DRIVE EVER. PERIOD.

We’re celebrating Motor-Tober by going all out and hosting a one of a kind test drive event. Come in and check out the all-new MINI Coupe, the latest addition to our growing family; a selection of MINI Hardtop, Convertible, Clubman, Countryman, and John Cooper Works models will also be on hand (although not all models may be available for test drive). Plus, all attendees will get $750 off a new MINI (speak to a Motoring Advisor for details).
And when you stop in, you can also enter your own six-word description of THE BEST TEST DRIVE EVER. PERIOD. You just might win the ride of your life.
Fill out the form below to let us know you’re coming. But most importantly, remember to register when you arrive at the event in order to be eligible for the $750 offer.

The rebate coupon I received from Mini indicates the rebate is good on AMY Mini (in-stock or custom order), provided you take delivery by January 3. Jus' saying... if your dealership's telling you different you might want to read them the fine print on the coupon.

Just in case it's useful to anyone whose dealers are telling them different things, here's the actual fine print on the $750 rebate coupon I received (which was sent by Mini USA, not my dealership):

$750 Off the Purchase or Lease of a New 2011 or 2012 MINI Model
Restrictions apply. Offer valid for one purchase or lease to customers having met all of the following criteria: 1) customers must attend one MINI MOTOR-TOBER Best Test Drive Event at a participating MINI dealer (list of dealer events can be found on MINIUSA.COM), 2) customers must register at the event upon arrival (registration at the event is required; online pre-registration does not qualify), and 3) customer must purchase or lease a new 2011 or 2012 MINI model and must take vehicle delivery between the date of the MINI MOTOR-TOBER Best Test Drive Event attended and January 3, 2012. Offer valid to the recipient whose name is on the email/letter/ certificate or any family member residing within the same household only and may not be transferred. Proof of identification/residency is required. Pre-owned and MINI NEXT vehicles do not qualify. Options may be limited due to product availability at time of sale. Cannot be used for tax, title, registration, destination or other dealership processing fees. Offer valid on final negotiated price and may be combined with any other MINI offer (with the exception of another email/letter/certificate offer) that is available at time of purchase.

My MA says they can honor the discount on top of the additional price we have already negotiated for my car already ordered. He said they would have to change my car from priority one to priority two but that would not be a problem. I am attending our event on the 29th.

Bmtespar, do you know what the difference between priority one and priority two is?

I took delivery of my Cosmic Blue Countryman S ALL4 , and boy am I ecstatic! They wouldn't let me apply the motortober rebate, though. Anyway, I'll post some pics in the Cosmic Blue thread tomorrow.

A couple things... A lot of the monthly deals the MINI offer have to due with lower interest rates,,, so if you are paying cash, you are RF'd! Really, punished to use cash. Go Figure...
Now like I told my MA, it is not that I am looking to "save" the $750, because I am heading right over to PARTS and dropping THAT cash right back in their lap....

My car is scheduled for somewhere around the second week of Nov--- WILL they change their tune by then?

Yes, the $750 is coming from MINI so it's on top of whatever you got from the dealer. I'm getting $1,100 off MSRP from the dealer and another $750 for the MINI-tober deal, total of $1,850.
