I got 'em. Strangely, the sensors are Pure Orange and the car is Pure Red and they match exactly.

Aside from the color match thing, does the backup alert system work as you expected? On first blush, I think I made a big mistake in not ordering it. I find it challenging backing into areas where I cannot tell how far away obstructions are from the rear bumper. Never want to ding the plastic butt of Jack.

Real (wo)men who know how to park don't need them - or at least that's the argument a lot of people make. Those would be the people that live in uncontested areas, never parallel park, never back into a space, and don't have high curbs that damage wheels. On the CM, there are two tones - one for off to the side stuff and one for behind stuff. Mine works extremly well and I'd have it no other way - all my vehicles have back 'em ups. Just as a side note, I also have an adjustable stick on mirror on the passenger side that focuses on the rear tire. No way I'm gonna scratch my anthracites.

Sealy - Who wishes MINI/BMW also included the dipper mirrors.

I didn't get them. I have had them on all my other cars, some have been awesome, some have been worse than useless. Considering I was downsizing from an 8 seater minivan to the CM I felt I would manage. The CM is really dinky and I have no issue parking, even parrallel parking, at all.

+1
I am downsizing from a Jeep Grand Cherokke so I skipped them. I have them on my 650i and I find them annoying. I back into a tight garage every night and parallel park in San Farncisco all the time, but I end up hitting the off button more often than not.

Yep i love them

I have them and love the feature.

Although the car is pretty small it is useful for small irregular items you might back into while parking or getting out of a drive way. It will alert you of object proximity with different colors. I find it useful to back up close to an object without risking bumping it. It will also alert you of high curb or post located near your bumper but not easily seen from inside the car.

In my case it's a well worth it feature.

Great feature...

If you are backing up in tight areas I find the option very helpful and would order again.

since your car is black, you can add after market backup sensors, which will be black. i quoted them and they were 400 USD so slightly less that factory. but at least thats an option for you.

i ended up ordering the rear sensors thinking...they will be useful for me, for my wife (if she takes my mini while i sleep) or at the dealership, when the service parking attendants are trying to back the mini up and may not be paying close attention. plus, it will add some resale value in the end.

Any chance you could post a photo or two of your mirror fix? Would love to see what you did. Thanks!

Nothing technical. Pep Boys sells adjustable 2" diameter blind spot mirrors - they come in a two pack. Just stick one on the outside edge of the passenger side mirror and adjust so you can see the tire. Save the second one for when the adhesive fails on the first one.

I have a manual trans. One day on a traffic light, on neutral, flipping my music selection and the traffic light turned green. Didnt expect that light to turn green so fast. I thought I put it on a 1st gear but instead I put it reverse-doh! Before i hit the gas, the sensor went off. Realizing I'm on a reverse, readjusted to the first gear. A little tinier smartcar was behind me reeeeal close.... My last manie trans car had a reverse on the right-side, above the 5th gear - well in CMs trans, it would be 5th gear...

I also thought about not getting it, knowing how small the car is but having it on my wifes minivan was real treat especially in NYC parallel parking. Get it! You won't regret it!

Steven
