I know this is an unorthodox question, but in a previous thread, I asked the question about finding out which style my wife liked without her knwoing I want to buy her a mini (going to surprise her for her 30th birthday). I got some great advice, but I was also thinking.... there is an Italian Job video game out there on the Playstation 2 and the Gamecube (both of which I have). Is there an option on that game that you can design your own mini with the color/roof/stripes? That way, I can let her design her car for the game and then just copy that!

Afraid not DrQuinn. You are given a choice of two or three colors at the beginning and earn more colors as you advance. It is a fun game. Good Luck.

Dr. Quinn:

Go to the miniusa.com site- on the home page, there's a link on the right side of the page to the "Custom Paint Shop." This will allow you to customize a vehicle. Also, have you tried to "build your own" yet on the same site?

Good luck!

Damn. So you can't truly customize it? Shoot. You can only pick the main color of the car? That really sucks, I was hoping this was one way I can figure out which car my wife might like the best.... thanks for your help!

I've built one on the site... but what I need is to find out which Mini my wife will like. I plan on surprising her for her 30th birthday with a brand new Mini... but am not sure of the best way to figure out what color and roof she'll like best.

Are there ways to get the racing stripes aftermarket or from the dealer later? That's one option I'm not sure about but if you can add it on at a reasonable price later I can wait for that. The biggest issues are the color and the roof color... I'm not sure what she'll like.

Thanks

What about pretending like YOU want one and ask her opinion? Act like somebody at your office has one and you were talking to them about it and thought they were cool. Configure it with her sitting there and get a feel for what SHE wants.

Might be an idea.

If you have an xbox, they have a racing game with minis in it too. I believe you can pick from a few different colors. And the handling is much better compared to the other cars in the game (a little slower though). Sadly I can't remember the name.

It's called Project Gotham Racing 2. Good game also!

I agree with a subtle plan of deception. At some time when you are home on the computer, casually show her the MINIUSA website and show her how cool it is that you can configure your own MINI online.

Do this very briefly just to get an idea of what color she likes and then NEVER mention a MINI again until it shows up in the driveway with a big bow on it!

What a fantastic surprise! And even if you don't know exactly which color she would like best, she is still guaranteed to LOVE any MINI she gets!

I used this "subtle plan of deception" to get my wife interrested in a new MINI. At first, she was against the purchase of a new car. I slowley shower her the website, then I just happened to stop at the dealer with her one day and took her with me for a test drive. Then, I told her I was over it and didn't want a new MINI and stopped talking about it for a few days. Then, out of the blue, she suggested I place an order. She was as hooked on it as I was. My plan was a success!

I have both Italian Job video games for my Sony Playstation. The new Italian job is a better game.
I don't think you can customize the mini, but you can choose from the colors they have.
